Super Bowl fans collapse at crowded NJ junction

Several people have collapsed in an overcrowded New Jersey train station while waiting in long lines to get to the Super Bowl.

Emergency medical workers pushed their way through the overheated crowd to treat the people at Secaucus Junction on Sunday afternoon.

Long lines have come to a standstill in front of airport-style security machines that apparently cannot handle the crowd volume. People were squeezed together in an enclosed stairwell.

As more trains arrived, police tried to thin the sweating, jostling crowd by spreading people across the platform.

Initial fan calls of ''Seahawks'' and ''Broncos'' gave way to angry shouts of ''New Jersey, your Super Bowl sucks!''

It looks like the weather warmed up just for the Big Game.

But according to NJ Transit everything went smoothly. What a mess. The issues were just as bad trying to leave Metlife stadium with people waiting 1 - 2 hours just to get on a train. Poor planning to say the least.

I would not be one to justify bad planning. It has to be said, though, that
the level of security had been well advertised before the game(there were four(4) ), and the NJ State Police (I am not a fan of theirs, but....) were charged with keeping people safe.

All in all, if you go to a concert or a football game, especially a large event such as the Super Bowl, you have to know that there's going to be large crowds, maybe impolite people, impolite security, pushing, shoving.......not good....which is why I stay away.

Ever been to Times Square on New Years' Eve? One dose, and I was cured.
A million people, and when the crowd pushes, you move with them, or get well, trampled........

So, yeah, some sympathy, but then, people had to know what they were getting into.........no?
