What is best credit card for travel points??

Hi all.

I currently use a Southwest specific card (not sure southwest partners with anyone else) and an American Airlines MC. I'd like to get a card that works with all or the majority of airlines to replace the AA card. Was offered the Wells "Signature" card and figured I would check with some of you. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Matt

All AMEX cards needs to be paid in full each month here.

But to the OP's question, AMEX is the best for traveling points.

Have Citi Bank AAdvantage Platinum Visa and pay it off every month. Downside is $80 a year fee but accumulate a lot of points quickly. Whatever you do request a card with the smart chip technology. The chip is key when traveling Internationally.

The black card from Barclays has a really good rewards system. 1 point for every dollar but when redeemed for travel, they're worth double. The problem is the annual fee is cost prohibitive. I've been able to get them to waive it the two years I've had it but doubt it will happen a third time

Amex membership rewards is still very good. Was a platinum card holder but I didn't think the benefits warranted the fees. Plus, they airline club access will almost be nonexistent in the future. They ended AA Admiral access (which I never fly anyway) but more importantly, it only allows the card holder access to Delta clubs. Since I bought a lifetime membership 10 years ago, that perk was never worth much to me.

Fortunately, Amex here offers both charge cards and credit cards.

Charge cards are the traditional amex cards and must be paid each month unless you choose to use their sign & travel option (not sure if it's an option in other countries) which allows for monthly payments w/interest. Their line of credit cards that allow you to carry a balance.

I have an AMEX that is issued by my bank (USAA). I get all the benefits of AMEX with comfort of my regular bank. I use it for all my travel. Points never expire. I use a variety of airlines...who ever who has the best price. I can use my accumulated points on AMEX to redeem for $ off flights on ANY airline.

I started using Amex preferred Cash rewards card recently. The card gives great cash back rewards, which is more important to me than travel benefits at this time.

I get 6% back on groceries (up to 360 dollars rewards), plus 3% for gas and retail stores; lastly 1% for everything else. There are also occasional discounts, such as 5 dollars off a 40 dollar chevron purchase, 5 dollars off a Panera purchase (if only it said Panerai)!

These cashbacks certainly justify a 75 dollar annual fee ....

I have several hotel and airline cards, but the one we use the most is the Fidelity AMEX which just gives us 2% back on everything. That automatically gets deposited into our account and we can use it for whatever we want. No try to cash in points only to find out you can't use them due to blackouts or you have to use 50% more points to get the flight you want.

What the heck?!

When has this changed? I'm usually Flying AA or Delta to the US and one of the perks has been the Sky club access! I do have a priority pass card too, but that's not exactly great in the US.

EDIT*

Saw that you still can bring guests but at a cost of 29 USD/person. Well, at a longer stop over this still makes sense I guess... Easy to spend 29 USD at an airport bar waiting a few hours!

AMEX for travel hands down IMO but for everything else I am liking a Cap One card Quick Silver pays 1.50% no limits no fees

Barclay Arrival.

Look it up and you'll agree. It also tracks your credit score for free.
