For the same price: Like-new AP Royal Oak 15400 black or Omega Dark Side of the Moon?
Yes, I understand they are very different watches from very different brands, but they occupy a similar price point, so I'm curious how the community would evaluate them.
Questions: - Which would you choose, assuming you could get a recent like-new APRO 15400 or a Dark Side at the same price? - Which do you just plain like better? - Which do you think is a better value? Truthfully depends on the price point you're referring to.

The Dark Side is such a nice looking watch in real life. I think I would still choose the AP though because I just prefer the design.

15400. Nothing really beats an RO's finishing in the 9-13k range, imho. Value wise, I am a firm believer that the RO is an excellent entrance to haute horology and I don't think the same can be said for the DSOTM.

Dark side except if you have no other watch...
None of them are good value retainers. But the Omega really is awesome.

AP. Had the DSOTM on twice and it's a decent watch, but $12K for a blacked out Omega??? The orange bezel PO looks a bit nicer to me.
15400 brings a smile to my face. |

Nothing wrong with Omega, but I don't think that watch is worth the same money as the AP.
AP for this amount of money.

There's absolutely no reason why the DSOTM Speedy should cost $12K. It's priced among elite in-house movements from finer companies. Omega's "in-house" Swatch movement can't compete with AP.
