If one lived in more snowy climes, wonder what road salts would do to the cover fabric?

Full size spare tyres are just about a thing of the past due to the sheer size of the tyres being fitted these days. All our cars have the pathetic 'space-saver' wheels which I would not drive on. I have full-size spares that I put in the car when a trip is happening. They take up most of the space in the boot but that's a price I'm willing to pay.
My friends with BMWs are not very supportive of the run-flats which are extremely harsh on anything but smooth surfaces, and expensive to replace. I carry a set of gardening gloves to use to change tyres having been caught before with a flat when all dressed up.

My Range Rover was the first car I had with a full sized spare (but still using a smaller tire than what was on the vehicle) in over a decade. The last one was a 1994 Land Cruiser.
Every car since has had either a donut or a tire repair kit that was absolutely useless. |

Seems like moisture will come in the top and then be trapped? Like it might need a drain hole or something.
