I like both, but currently have the ss and the ceramic. Reasons for going ceramic

-- case is more durable, not to say FC isn't durable as well, just not as scratch resistant;

-- ceramic a little more exclusive in that, according to the Ginza boutique, only 350 will be produced;

-- pricing made sense for me as I managed to get a Ceramic for quite a bit less than I could get an FC diver for on TRF; and

-- my belief that it is likely to hold its value a little better due to the fact that it is boutique only, so no discounting.

That being said, I may consider getting the FC in the future, but not sure I really want all 3 divers (I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the white diver!).

AP will make as many ceramic Divers as the market calls for, so don't worry, there's no artificial cap on its production. I'm not sure why the Ginza boutique would imply otherwise, and even go so far as to provide a number that's even lower than the typical run for a proper ROO LE, but I'm sure they had their reasons.

Adam

I thought it was odd as well, and I have never officially read that anywhere. This is the thread where it was discussed. Either way, love all of them (except white).

I'm not entirely sure if the description of an "eroded FC" is going on with mine, but I will take pictures of mine and post it.

I am slightly annoyed since I read that the FC was supposed to be durable. I daily wear mine but I don't do any physical activities with it and I haven't had any incident in banging it against anything.

I will upload pictures when I get home.

Diver

Both are great!!
I have a forget one and prefer it BUT as always it is a personal preference

The forged one is a lot easier to find at a good deal

All the best'

Would be good to see the pics. Cos my 1 yr + fc diver is still in mint condition despite being worn almost on a daily basis.

I've had mine for about 10 months now and I daily wear it. I sit at a desk most of the day so nothing too active about my lifestyle.

Everywhere thats not shown in the pictures is mint...just that area for some reason.

Here are some pictures...

Yikes, that is a shame! That just looks wrong. I would assume that there is warranty still. I think that I'm leaning to Ceramic now.

Yeah, I'm still under warranty but I don't know what they are going to propose since I believe FC is not 'polishable'? I'm not sure if they would replace it for free and if they don't, I'll just wait to send in during the waterproofing for my 3rd year warranty and decide then to replace it.

However, I will contact AP Singapore (closest AD for me) and see what they think of it.

I truly hope that is not expected wear and tear for the FC! I can only imagine what AP would charge for a new case...

I'm pretty sure a new FC case isn't that expensive at all - in fact, I'm sure it's relatively cheap if I remember correctly.

That doesn't look like wear and tear to me though and I'd be pushing for a new case under warranty.

Yeah, that's grounds for a new case, methinks -- on AP's dime - because that type of wear is most certainly NOT normal. Case in point, my FC Diver is well over a year old now and has been everywhere from the pool, to the ocean, to the playground, to sub-zero snow (worn outside my glove), etc, and with the exception of a nick or two (entirely my fault, and thankfully, all but invisible thanks to the mottled nature of forged carbon), it looks brand new, with the lines of the case as crisp today as when I first too the plastic off.

As for case replacements, I've heard that the cost for a new FC case is quite reasonable, all things considered. Still, this should be covered under warranty.

Regards,
Adam

Wow - that comes as a surprise, although I can imagine if it is compressed into a mold there may be minimal post-processing compared to the steel/gold/other metal cases (and thus a lower cost to create, raw materials cost aside).

In any case, I agree that I would also be pushing for a free replacement under warranty.

I own two FC's that are rotated on a pretty regular basis as daily wearers and I gotta say...i haven't seen that. it looks like it's fraying. like it's touched some sort of chemical that is making it decompose or unravel. bizarre.

i've gotten a case replacement on one before, its about $1200 US. but that's because i beat mine up, and then started to just play with it thereafter. that looks like you've been dragging it around asphalt or something (which I know you haven't)

Both good. I think ceramic is more scratch resistant though and has more shine.

Thanks for the replies...I will contact AD Singapore and see if they will be willing to replace it for free and be insistent that this is not the level of quality I expected from an AP timepiece.
