15400 Blue now at ADs

Was at Govberg this past weekend, and was told by one of the sales associates that the Blue AP 15400 is now available for order by ADs; that it not a boutique exclusive anymore.

Not sure how true it is, but I'll let you all know when I decided to purchase one!

Interesting, I'm sure the boutique can confirm. Not sure how in the know the sales reps are.

I would have assumed if anything, more pieces would follow boutique only since that seems to be the shift in recent years. I don't think I have of any that have reversed.

I always thought that was a weird policy. Why make your most popular color model only available at a few locations?

Just bought my 15202 blue from the Bal Harbour boutique and was told that they are available with AD's as well and I just saw a post in the classifieds section about a 15202 blue dial for sale bought from the Houston AD.

I guess this is a win for potential owners...unless folks liked the exclusivity?

Love my Blue 15300...which I believe was exclusive to Boutiques as a well?

Hmm, they need to make up their mind.

Love the 15400 blue dial either way!

thought the intent was just for the Jumbos to be limited to the boutiques?

Gus, the intent was for both the 41mm Royal Oak and Royal Oak Chronograph blue dial. It was mentioned in a timezone interview with Francois Henry Bennahmias.

I do not know whether it is against the rule to link other sites. If so I do apologize.

My thoughts exactly.

This type of reversal within such a short period of announcing it, along with the prices for gold models going down and then up again after a short period, suggests a brand in confusion.

Agree, It just doesn't make a lot of sense. I can see what they were maybe trying to do in getting more customers into the boutiques, but you would want to be lucky enough to have one close to you or your out of luck. I bet, for example, a lot of people bought a black dial when ideally they may have splashed on a blue dial had it been available. Not that you can go wrong either way.
It's not as crazy as what I read about oakley deciding to stop selling the small watch vault. It looks to me like half of the world wants to buy one. They are even up on ebay for $300 which is ridiculous, although I hope they are not selling at that price.

This type of strategy happens everywhere... Let the model go exclusive for a while to demand a premium... then release it to the masses.

So for what it's worth, I spoke to the AP boutique and while the 15202 was always available at ADs, they are saying as far as they know the blue 15400 is still boutique only.

Heck Govberg told me that verbatim today.
