Hello all,
Noob here. I have always lusted for a 16610 Sub Date but wasn't really educated on the latest models etc. I came here to learn more and explore my options. My 50th is coming up soon and I have decided that it is time. Trying to decide between 16610 and 116610. In some respects I would like to have the newest model. But I have had issues with some of the larger case watches (other brands). So I am concerned that I will be unhappy with the size. I want to get this right the first time. Today I am leaning toward 16610 but I am easily swayed, lol. Yesterday I was sure it should be the 116610. |

Go to AD. Try on the new one. If you love it, get it. If not, go for the older one.

The case size is the same. It just appears bigger because of the lugs and crown guard.

Definitely try them both on. The 16610 was perfect for me. Good luck!

I've had both and really enjoy the newer version over the older one. Both are very comfortable but the glidelock clasp is just an amazing addition and makes micro adjustments on the fly super easy =).

It took a while for the newer ones to grow on me, but now I love them. Also, don't forget the bracelet and clasp. Study them both properly. They both have their pros, but IMHO the new ones with glide-lock are superior in every way. Not to complicate things, you should also look at the no date Subs....

Certainly try them on. If you're in Vegas (?) head to the Wynn and you'll be in Rolex heaven.

they are both great and no real size differences but I prefer the newer version mostly because of the clasp but the ceramic bezel and maxi dial don't hurt either
welcome, good luck |

I had the same problem and bought the SubC (same year as the birth of my child). The watch is amazing, it really is a work of art.
Calling it stunning or beautiful is not enough, you will catch yourself looking at it just to look at it. The bezel, the dial, the blue lume are all just yummy. I really love my SubC. But.....those lugs mean to me it is not a proper Submariner or the one I really wanted. Yes it is better (argue away) because if the new developments but I would like the older model on my wrist to see which I really would prefer. In essense the SubC is a piece of jewellry, the older model a tool watch. By tool watch I mean go anywhere and do anything type of take a beating. A SubC can do this but would look the worse for it as it is a show off or poser. Get a new one or get an old one, all are great. For me I am not done and still need to scratch the itch. I guess with a SubC you may feel the same? |

After you put them both on then you'll know what's right for you.

They are the same size, but the new model will wear larger due to the wider lugs. As others have said, you really need to try both of them on to see which works best for you.

I have a 16710 (old style case) and a 116610 (new style) and although they are both technically the same size at 40mm, the 116610 does seem larger. Maybe more like a 42 mm watch. So I'd try to try them on if I were in your shoes. Good luck!

Both are 40mm and neither is a large watch
From a few feet away you'll struggle to tell the difference between them I like all of the nice updates - bracelet, clasp (especially), lume, etc...

If the size is OK for you I'm sure you will want the subc when you try it on.

Tried out a Sub C at AD. It was just right.
Didn't really feel any bigger to me, just a little bit different than 16610 (in a good way). The improved clasp is awesome. That is a tremendous upgrade. Sub C is the way I want to go. Thanks for the input. |

Congrats on your choice!
I tried on the 16610 a few years back, it felt very good on the wrist, and then I tried on the SubC 116610. The improvements won me over. |

Go to an authorized dealer and try some on and then make your decision.
