I had a 40mm FF a few years ago and while I liked the looks of it found that it wore small due to the wide bezel v. the dial size. Great watch, though.

and a comparison:

I am reviving this thread to ask if any of you have seen the new Bathyscape Chrono? Do you like it enough to buy it? It is loaded with high tech features including anti-magnetic balance wheel and spring made of silicone, fly back Chrono with vertical clutch, etc.. I think am really liking this model a lot, and it is on my watch for 2014 list.

I have seen it live in Baselworld. It was clearly one my my favorite watch of all but it's way too expensive fo me to even think to buy one.

Hope you like the pics.

As a bonus, the bigger brother X-Fathoms

and a picture of a master enameler at work on a dial at the Blancpain booth.

Blancpain

Thank you fmc000, Fabio, for the pics from Basel! The more I see that watch the more I like it. It is a lot more than I was hoping, especially the ceramic version. It just has some amazing to me tech all in one watch!

You're very welcome, Kevin! The watch is fantastic, unfortunately at Baselworld they were showing only the steel version with bracelet. AFAIK, the ceramic version is available only on nato.

I agree with you, this watch has it all: chrono pushers operating at 300m underwater, hi-beat movement @36000bph, flyback, 5 days power reserve; only drawbacks are IMHO the price (over 2K EUR only for the bracelet!!) and the size, for me 43mm are too much as I have very small wrists.

I don't like the bathyskaphe collection but this calibre is I think the most interesting new entry calibre in Basel.
I really hope it will be worn by all the other chronograph collections.
By the way, I think the power reserve is 50 hrs http://blancpain.watchprosite.com/sh...-calibre-f385/.

Yes the Ceramic version is available with the NATO strap or sail cloth strap. Since I have very close to an 8" wrist this one would fit me nicely. It seems everything I like is not reasonably priced! Lol!

The Bathyscaphes look great - they really need to be seen and held to be properly appreciated
