DJ2 FTW!

I never understand the "X or Y?" threads.. You've gotta get the one that you love, not the one that gets more votes.

I'm wondering if the smooth bezel on the DJII is a scratch magnet... that won't be an issue with the Sub..

Even though I'm not in the "dress up nicely and wear your sub" club you can dress it up if you want. With that said, If your lifestyle is a little more dressy I would vote DJII.

Nah; I have a smooth bezel on my DJ; it's gold, which is of course softer than SS, and I've not had a problem with it getting scratched.

My clasp gets nailed almost every day, so it's not as if I baby my watch; the bezel just doesn't seem to be a problem...

Here's a better pic of 41mm on my wrist.

Great replies. I'm a big fan of both watches, but I am tending toward the DJII for size. Besides, I love my orange Planet Ocean 2500 diver. It's 41.5mm and slightly larger than a Sub and although it looks good, I could definitely pull off 43-44mm.

I don't like the size of the 45mm Planet Ocean - truly too big and ridiculously thick. I think the new Planet Ocean Chrono is one of the best looking watches on the market, but it's about an inch thick on the wrist! Not gonna happen.

That DJII just feels right. I also tried on the fluted bezels. I prefer the fluted bezel on the 36mm DJ, but it just looks like too much on the 41. This is a watch I plan to hold onto for the long run and I love the very basic and clean layout and design of the DJII. And that silver dials really sells it.

Man, I think I'm talking myself into a Rolex! Thanks for your feedback.

By the way, I'm not looking for votes. I truly like both watches and they both pull me in different directions. Like many have said, I'll probably end up with both someday, but still it's nice to get feedback from others as a part of the process. Thanks to all.

They're both beautiful watches so go with whichever one 'sings' to you the most. I doubt you'll be disappointed with any Rolex :-)

Both. But with your wrist size I would consider other brands, like ap roo, though AP is a bit more expensive :)

if you want a sportier look, go with sub

if you want a non-sportier look, go with DJII.

I think the Sub looks great on you. If it's going to be your one and only watch for a while, the Sub IMO would be the better choice and offer you more versatility. You can never go wrong with a Sub

If this were the prior version sub, there wouldn't be a question, but what is "pulling you" to the DJII is the proportions of the lugs to the bezel. It's got a better shape.
The more I look at pictures, the more I become a "vintage" rolex guy.

Sub. for cleaner lines (assuming that you don't really need a date) try on the Sub C no date just for another perspective.

Welcome to TRF. Good dilemma you've got there. As someone with a close wrist size, I was once in your shoes. I came from bigger watches (Breitling) and the 40mm felt a bit small in the beginning.
I have to agree with DJII is more comfortable and I think this is due to a slimmer case and a flatter case back. I actually own 2 DJIIs. I love it and that's the route I would go if I had to do it again taking in consideration that I own a GMTIIC LN.

Apples and oranges. Sub is a daily sport watch for me & DJ is a classy dressy watch.

Either one of them is great. I would go the route of the DJII as a first Rolex. The Likes of the Sub C/GMT soon after. It almost always happens that way.

It depends on whether or not you would like to have the rotating bezel and the new Oyster bracelet.
Personally I need that bezel on the Sub.

I have the dj2. Great watch. Love it. But I dislike the pcl's. I chose the dj2 over the subc because subc is more common and design has been around for years. But with hinsight maybe I should have gone with subc because I prefer the strap. Both nice however.

Just go with what you like best. If you end up taking one over what your heart is set on from the suggestions of others you might end up with regret in the future.

Life's too short to regret so I say go with your gut. If they both look good in your book then flip a coin because you really can not go wrong with either watch.
