Winding stiffness variablility/model

Hi all, just wondering if there is a difference in winding stiffness between the various models. Reason, I just bought my wife a DJ 31mm which was wound and set at the AD in Vegas. Now that we are home, I was playing with it and noticed the the winding "tension" was stiffer than my Sub's. Not gritty, but just more tension. Any worries? Just a factor of the smaller movement/crown?

thx

My wife owns a DJ 26MM, which I believe shares the same movement size as the DJ 31MM, which my daughter wears. Both DJ's winding tension is exactly as described by the OP as compared to my SubC.

A mainspring that isn't getting fully wound due to a defect can give you that stiffness but the gear train varies by model and the newness of the mainspring can have some influence in the "resistance" you feel.

If you're concerned about the mainspring, try testing the power reserve to be sure it is performing at the published range...about 50 hours. Fully wind it and set it aside to see how long it runs. Anything that's off by 20% or more may indicate a problem.

Same thing with my Girlfriend's DJ 26mm. Especially compared to my 16610 Sub.

I always have to wind both so they keep running as they are often replaced with G-Shocks for weekends on the beach.

Its mainly because its a relativity a small watch but quite a long mainspring spring for power reserve in a small spring barrel. Plus the factor crown is quite small compared to the men watches so that would alone make it feel stiffer in winding.
