Is it just me or is this too good a deal?! 16520 R-Series porcelain dial

Hi guys,

I wanted to get your expert opinion this Daytona 16520 R-Series porcelain dial:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Rolex-1...6%26rkt%3D4%26

The final price seems ridiculously low (relative to what these watches typically go for). The watch is coming from Bulgaria and the seller has only 11 prior transactions on eBay. It seemed a bit off to me, and I did a bit of research to uncover this:

http://www.network54.com/Forum/20767...ood+as+it+gets

The SAME watch with the SAME pictures. Only the second link is from London, England and the asking price is 30,000 GBP (a price in line with current market price for this watch).

Also, what put me off was that eBay seller was concealing the serial # of the watch entirely, where as the seller on the other forum showed them clearly. The eBay seller did not display man of the pics (i.e. pics indicating serial numbers or reference codes).

Could it be that the watch was stolen and re-sold on eBay?

What do you guys think?

I appreciate any insight and feedback!

Do you think the eBay auction is fictitious? i.e. a scam and there really is no watch for sale given that the pics were stolen?

He will most likely ship the auction winner a fake watch....IMHO...sadly / unfortunately, some people will never know the different...

Yeah, it's a sad story that probably happens all the time...

I'm curious though, couldn't the buyer just take the watch to a Rolex AD to get it authenticated??

Yes but if it is an EBay sale it will be too late at that point.

But doesn't eBay offer 100% protection? I was reading about this and am curious. I have a few watches in my collection, all of which I bought in person (i.e. face-to-face) and I've never used eBay for this - with good reason! :)

Thoughts?

Haha :)

The auction is over (I didn't bid obviously) but I was following it to see what would happen.

I think the location of the item is a deal breaker indeed ;)

He states payment trough Moneybookers only.

This is outside of ebay. Ebay will just wash their hands.

Total scam and yes the watch sold for $30-35K below value if it were true.
