DJ- Value +/- for being different

Can't get my mind off off the new Milgauss GV, but would have to sell my DJ to help fund it.

This DJ may have a "quirk" to it, or just a little unique history.

But wanted to get the forum's thoughts.

This watch does not have the inner chapter ring, but has the upgraded bracelet and case. When they were transitioning there was a period of time when the DJ had the upgrades but no chapter ring, then the chapter ring came out on all the watches.

In the big picture with the gazillion DJs produced, this set up is rare (purely by the numbers) in the sense that they are out there but not as common as all the other DJs with upgrades and chapter ring.

To me, it is a cool "trivia" fact that only a watch geek would appreciate or even know. IMHO, it changes the value of the watch in no way up or down.

Now if I found a buyer that really hated the chapter ring, then it may be a different story, or maybe not, it is after all just what it is, a nice daily driver DJ.

It is my watch so I know a lot about it, just like I like to learn about all my watches.

But would appreciate your comments, if, (when) I go to sell, do you think anyone would give a damn that it does not have a chapter ring.

There are many who dislike the chapter ring, myself included, but I don't give a damn enough to pay too much of a premium to do without it. Who knows though? Some people in the market for a new dj might really hate the chapter ring, for whom it may be the perfect watch.

Personally I haven't followed the Datejust models to know when the engraved chapter ring appeared. I know more about when the no date sub 14060M went from non-cosc to cosc and the chapter ring was engraved. I like the 116200 Datejust but if it were me buying one and I heard the term "rare" used to describe a modern rolex, I would suspect it was a frankenwatch or worse, not real at all. Just my opinion.

Thanks, there is a chance I may just keep it. So clean!

Well said, it is always about finding the right buyer.

Not too worried about proving NO franken watch issues, have all boxes, papers, history, etc.

Agreed rare and modern Rolex don't really mix. Probably better stated by less common.

Not rare imo and no added value or loss, another dj but a very nice piece, personally I would keep and just add to the collection

I was selling a TT DJ with the same configuration about 5 or 6 months ago. A lot of buyers actually preferred the engraved rehaut and actually had 1 or 2 potential buyers back out because they wanted that, my guess is because that meant it was a newer model.

Nothing rare about the DJ with or without the Rolex branding on the inner rehaut and most certainly not worth a premium with or without millions of both in this world today.

This is what my initial thought was- that buyers are more likely to want the engraved rehaut than not. IMO the value is the same, just might be slightly harder to sell.
