Up for grabs is a Rolex BubbleBack

2940 reference automatic, 32mm case without crown.

316,XXX serial number circa 1945

Excellent condition case. No corrosion, no pitting. Lugs are very thick and defined with crisp edges. Serial number is very crisp and fully intact.

This example the mysterious "C" stamp on lug. I have read that it could simply be for South American market or case makers mark, or perhaps even indicating chronometer certified watch.

Dial is original, not refinished, with Arabic numbers, split second minute track. Excellent condition with tropical brown aging. Luminous material is intact on all numbers. Hands appear to be original, blued steel with luminous material that has aged to orange patina and red second hand.

Bezel is original smooth in excellent condition and nicely defined on edges.

Crown is original Rolex Oyster Brevet

Caseback is stamped 2940

Movement is in excellent physical and mechanical condition.

No box or papers. No strap.
