Sounds like you need a trip to an AD for I little hands on session to see if you really want to wait. Happy hunting.

That sounds like a great idea. I bet I will walk out with a watch on my wrist.

This is your problem. This forum is a major catalyst and escalator. Hold on to your wallet, its gonna be an expensive ride!

I think "enabler" is a more apt description...

No. But not a bad problem to have. I'd get a SS over gold. I like watches that aren't heavy.

I commend you for your ability to save! Why not reward yourself with the SS Daytona and then flip it when you have the remaining funds for a gold one available, as others have mentioned?

Thank you. I cant see how flipping is cost effective.

Well an SS Daytona will hold its value well so if you buy it at a reasonable price you will lose very little or maybe nothing when you sell it later for the gold and in the mean time you have a lovely watch on your wrist.

they can be had right here for $10-11k. When you have the rest saved for the gold, you will be able to get very very close ( if not more depending in how much time / price increases ) to getting $10-11k trading your ss for the gold. If you don't buy new from AD you don't take the depreciation hit.

I would look on the bright side - you still have all your money and you've saved yourself a lot of flipping. I'd wait until you have the funds for the Gold Daytona - that is a great first luxury watch in anyone's book. If you decide you don't want it, you still have the money.

As an aside, you sound like the polar opposite of the gentleman on a recent thread who dropped 9k on a pawnshop frankenrolex and immdiately regretted it. Your way is better.

you're going to drive yourself crazy, even more when you miss out on good opportunities.
P.S I remember I was in the same position and everyday I would look up so many watches and one night my wife records me while I was sleeping in the middle of the night saying. "Rolex yatchmaster 16622...bla bla bla.... GMT master 116710"

This may be the funniest thing I have read on TRF.

OP, you need to just go try on some watches and see what you really want.

Yes man, I know exactly how you feel. Nothing bad about it. As long have you have something decent on your wrist while saving up for something better

i actually envy you - so many 'settle' because they (me) just dont have the discipline to hold out for what would really make them happy.

its not a bad thing, necessarily!

now, as some others have suggested, you should probably really get yourself comfortable that you not pulling the trigger doesnt really have to do with not finding a particular watch that speaks to you.

i honestly think that is unlikely because if it was an issue of not really wanting a rolex, you would have blown that play money on something totally different than a watch. you want 'some' watch badly enough that you have continued to save

I can relate to the OP because I've been in the market for my first and most likely only luxury watch. And when you save for one the next nicer piece is within reach. Also this forum doesnt make it any easier to decide when you look at all the other great pieces
