Sapphire crystal of my BLNR was scratched while knocking the door knob.

Would you replace crystal?..

(a week has past and I'm kind of getting used to it...)

If you're used to it leave it. If it bothers you more than the cost of replacing it, replace it.

Wow, you must have caught it pretty good- those crystals are pretty resistant. If it were me, I would probably replace it. It is not likely to happen again like other scratches are..

How did that happen with a doorknob?
The sapphire crystal on my PAM was scratched slightly after a run-in with my wife's engagement ring.

Rolex Canada charged me $280 plus tax

That needs to be fixed.. its not on the bracelet, its on the crystal. Don't be the guy who owns a $10k Rolex but thinking hard for fixing repair($300)!

I would replace it because of the size and placement of the scratch. It would bother the crap outta me.

I wouldn't be able to look at my watch without seeing that scratch and as crazy as it sounds the enjoyment of it would be gone.

Definitely. It's a massive scratch. If it was elsewhere like on the bracelet I might not mind but right on the crystal (esp. for a new watch)? I'd have it replaced. In fact I'd run to the AD/RSC as soon as I was free.

Clearly in the minority here, but I would leave it as is for now and get it replaced when you next have it serviced.

Definitely replace it. If it didn't bother you, you wouldn't have asked about it here, so I'm sure that it's reducing your enjoyment of the watch. Scratches in other places on the watch add to it's individuality in my mind, but the crystal is made out of sapphire for a reason.

Are you sure the "scratch" is not something that transferred from the knob to the crystal and can be rubbed off with some effort. Try looking at it with a loupe to ascertain if that is the case. Just a thought.

Thank you all, you've really convinced me to replace it (ahhh where are the days of the acrylic crystal..). I'll probably do it during the next service. Regarding the door knob, it was a diamond like knob at a clients house (probably real diamond! Can I sue him? :)

How new is your watch or when was it serviced last?
My Exp II was serviced this past Janusry and because of that Rolex Canada replaced my crystal without having to service the movement which was good I couldn't wait until it needed servicing again
