FYI on SeaDwellers on HK

Rolex prices in HK are strange.

They have the new seadwellers in HK for 78000 hkd (roughly 10k US) no tax and are happy to knock off 10% right off the bat (I barely bargained) so you walk out with a brand new seadweller for about 9k give or take.

Cheapest I've seen them go for (even grey market). If I wasn't more into vintages I'd have scooped one up.

HK is one of the best places to buy Rolexes. No sales tax, discounts if you pay cash and many AD's (especially in the shopping and commercial areas: Central, TST, Causeway Bay, etc)

As I understand it, they didn't get hit with the last rate increase so retail prices are cheaper. Add to that no tax and it's a great place for shopping.

I don't know of any HK AD who would discount the new sea dwellers right now.

If you took half the discount in profit and the other half you passed on I'm sure more than a few here would be interested.

It's a great place to shop for many things, but for watches it truly is the best place on Earth. It's really impossible to understand or even imagine if you haven't seen for yourself.

Yep - If it's the cheapest price online for NIB, how could someone feel bad if you made a few buck while saving them some. Free market works.

Chow tai fook in causeway bay for anyone that's truly keen. It's in the window with a 78k price tag, but walk in and say Ill pay cash and I want 10 percent off.

Funny how so many people from Asia still come here to Hawaii to buy their Rolex. I know, I see them buying 3-4 at a time at my AD (and they are mostly Chinese, not Japanese).

Likely wealthy mainland Chinese from the north in Hawaii as tourists.

I'll second that. Being a Rolex fan and living here also requires great self control, and a very understanding missus.

Hahaha..Fore SURE. Lucky for me, when I met my wife she was a secretary for a top watch hands supplier & I was a buyer, so she knew what she was getting into from day one

Most people speak English? I went to part of my grad school in Shanghai and not many people did.

Sure, it's a former British colony so most people speak English, although its generally recognised (and a frequent topic in the local press) that standards have been dropping since the 1997 handover back to China.

Watches are truly strange here, some are extremely overpriced in comparison while other models that are NEVER discounted are auto marked down the minute u ask. A black bay is marked up 10 % while an audemars ultra thin is marked down 10 with 0% financing for 2 years?

Got a quick call from my AD today. They finally threw in the towel and offered a 5% discount. Guess it's not selling as hot off the blocks as it seems!
