GMT Master I or II?
Which one do you prefer and why - if any?
I like the "old stuff" (plexi, etc) - but also like the idea of all new and more "robust". |

I have warmed up a bit to the maxi case, but still prefer the classic look.

Both....I would probably buy the Master I first, since its value may increase more than the BLNR, but then at some point buy the BLNR as well...
And I feel exactly like you do. I love the older GMT, but the solid feeling of the current model gives me a better feeling |

You can't go wrong with either, but why not go for both? I have grown so fond of the GMT I can't stop acquiring them. My advise would be to pick up an a metal bezeled Sapphire GMT or GMT II with all 3 inserts and the new BLNR. You will then have all your SS GMT needs met.

If not for the PCL's I'd go with the new one. But I just can't get past that.

Are you referring to the GMT1 versus the ceramic model or the GMT2 in general? The 16710 looks-wise has a lot more in common with the GMT1 than the ceramic.
For functionality I prefer the GMT2, no question. It is just a more powerful tool with enhanced capabilities. For looks I like them all, ceramic and pre-ceramic. Of course, the older models allow easy bezel changes so you can have multiple looks out of one watch, not to mention bracelet choices, but this goes for both the GMT1 and 2 pre-ceramics. On the wrist I like the feel of the GMTC better. Real comfortable watch.

In the photo above I think the four on the left look light weight, comfortable, quite subtle and classy. I think the new one on the right looks heavy, uncomfortable, not subtle at all and a bit 'look at me'.

Old Pepsi for me every time - maybe not just as robust as the newer version but more than able to stand anything that comes its way!

One is certainly larger and bolder but I do not necessarily know that one is more robust than the other.
The GMT II has the ability to adjust the hour hand independent of the GMT hand; this is very important functionality for me and anyone who jumps time zones but needs to reference either GMT (in my case) or their home time for some. Ehile the comfort of the older five digit s/n styles is renowned, the Comfort Link feature of the new (6 digit s/n models) is great - especially in hotter weather.

I prefer the new style ceramic GMT2. Especially the BLNR and the WG Pepsi. Old style with new twist.

Don't like the old bracelet and clasp. Actually, only think I like about the old ones is the bezel colors and the fact that they are interchangeable.

I like the old and the new. the old will be around for a while because there are so many but they wear and you have to look at them harder. If you want an old one to swap bezels and wear that pepsi or coke, I'd say get it sooner than later. the new ones are also awesome. They're a different look and feel.

Old is classic and beautiful. New is big, bold, and a little showy. New may be better but old looks better to my eyes.

Best of all worlds?
1999 "A" series " Swiss" only dial with luminnova as opposed to super luminnova. Choice of oyster lock or jubilee bracelets. Came with black or Pepsi bezel. IMO (after 30 Years + of collecting) the most underpriced, hard wearing Rolex sports watch out there,

Nice collections. I hope to have an older one someday to compliment the BLNR.
