You can't put at least something soft under it?

Honestly, it doesn't. I put it down gently, and there aren't almost any scratches to be seen!

I've seen this picture before, and that kinda looks like the way my husband stores his watch, except that the diamonds are replaced with bullets and stuff (please don't ban me!!) (he's in LE), so I can't post a picture here!

Kudos!

Even after having been in a road accident in which my Omega PO suffered only minor scratches to the bracelet and absolutely no scratches to the crystal, I still can't get myself to lay my watches face down on a leather desk.

Is it safe to put my Sub crystal side down so close to the sink?!

When I'm not wearing it to sleep in, I very carefully put mine down on its side on a micro cleaning cloth, either from Rolex or Omega. I also rinse it off after a long distance run to make sure there's no salt on it. That way, I can make certain that all the scratches and dings are from me whacking it into door jambs, car doors, or computer keyboards.

Actually if I don't have a soft case to put the watch down sideways I usually put it down face down as well. Sometimes doesn't sit so well because of the cyclops lens though.

I put mine on a watch pad I got from vereat face up wrapped in a cleaning cloth. I wash it before I put it to bed. Works for me. As long as you have a routine that works for you. This would make me nervous though. But I should talk as I was using paint stripper today while wearing my watch.

Don't forget those big handles on refrigerators. My watch and this huge device seem to collide far too frequently.

Why not invest in a small case like the casebudi?

I've always kept my watches face-down. It seems the most intuitive way to protect them from scratches, but after reading all of these responses I guess maybe it's not as intuitive as I had thought!

But, as you say Vanessa, my watches are virtually free of scratches.

It looks so lonely on the sink all by itself. Where do you keep the other watches?

There's nothing unsafe with this tile to begin with. I don't THROW my watch on the counter... I lay it down gently (and thanks for liking my tile )

My safe's downstairs and it's way too much of a hassle to open and close. If I don't have my watch within plain sight, I'll forget to put it on! My mornings are pretty hectic with getting two little kids ready!

Au contraire! If I didn't care, I would've just let it rest on the clasp
My bathroom counters are the highest counters in my home, where my little monkeys can't just grab it "and try it on"!

My point to the picture was that these Rolex watches aren't porcelain dolls, and the safest way to put it down (except for a velvet lined safe) would be resting it on the (sapphire!) crystal. I've seen hundreds of watches with beat up clasps and case backs or crowns that are dent because the customer would put it down on those (more delicate) parts. You can compare it with glasses... you don't want to rest those with their lenses touching the surface, right?

Never really looked at it like that lol. Great perspective you have there bud

Here's where mine spends the night, on a wooden shelf above the sink so I don't worry about anything.

Crystal up, though, but with the band positioned like this there are no scratches anywhere...
