Have you ever checked the time...
...on your Rolex and realized that you don't have a clue what time it is since you've just admired your watch instead of actually checking what time it is? It happens to me every day.... I guess I'm still overwhelmed by the fact that I own a new Rolex.

Guilty as charged!
Rolex dials are so beautifully made so I cannot help just staring at it. I remember JJ posting a story about him sitting in his car, in the middle of traffic, just gazing at his TT Blue Sub Date.

I look to make sure that 30 seconds have passed since the last time I looked. And yep, still tick tick ticking.

Actually, I'm glad to see seasoned afficionados suffering from the same affliction... I always feel like a total moron when I have to look at my watch twice...

Actually, I have to share that I saw someone on the train. He must have been another WIS because he was constantly looking at his watch and then turn away and then looking again and then adjusting his coat sleeve to make sure his watch wouldn't get hidden from view. Of course, I had to chuckle and hope that I didn't look THAT obvious.
p.s. His watch was a Frank Mueller. |

Yup, sometimes gazing at it's beauty can unintentionally send the signal that I'm being impatient.

That is the reason I got mostly vintage ones. The matte dial and the plastic crystal
will not reflect my ugly face. Jocke

Sadly, yes!
I am just glad to find that I am not the only one that has "issues" as my wife calls it!

I've done that with a meteorite... one BAD Dial
And today at lunch, I couldn't tell what the guy next to me had, [some pastry regional sales manager from Germany,] could have been an A. Lange & Söhne, I guess I should have just grabbed his wrist and said "What's that?" But I was being polite, I don't think he noticed my LV and we never spoke of timepieces... Waste, I guess |

Yes, all day long, every day!!
I was doing it in a meeting last week and I got dirty looks from the boss, who thought I was just bored (I was) and watching the clock. Well, I was "watching the clock", but not for the reason she thought. Just couldn't pull my eyes away from that little second hand as it went about it's merry way, making sure to touch each maxi-sized dot on the dial. |
