Can't believe FleaBay...I got slapped for using the word Replica!
I don't know what I was thinking....I own several guitars and I had a Gibson Les Paul 1959 re-issue tribute to Joe Perry that I listed for sale. In the description, instead of using words like "re-issue" or "homage", I simply wrote "replica of J.Perry's 1959 LP"....
The listing got flagged and my account is on hold... Now for the record, I don't give a F@%X.... I did call them just to have my rights read to me on selling counterfeits in the US... I wonder, how in god's name are those sellers getting away with selling POS watches all the time, some with 100% feedback and thousands of transactions and I can't even sell a genuine Genuine Les Paul...... Crazy FleaBay...End of rant! |

As long as Replica is clearly stated, I don't see the problem. Passing replicas as the genuine article is the problem, IMO.

The problem with 'replica' is copyright violation. In the OP case the guitar is
issued by the copyright-holder so it's ok, and yes a 'homage' or 'reissue' would be better terms. Replicas issued by a third-party without permission of the copyright-holder are illegal under US federal law. |

E-bay is right, use the word replica and you should be slapped.

Ya... You just should have used the two other words you've listed besides replica. Red flag

There might be an "autotrap" for the word replica.
There is a glut of Chinese "Replica" (Fake) guitars out there. Yours, however is a proper re-issue. Factory made and a pretty penny indeed. You should be able to satisfy Ebay then re-list it using the correct wording. |

Fully agree guys and it sounds like eBay goes through the motions and reinstates your account.... If that's the case, why is it so easy for fraudulent listings to remain active...? That's the puzzling part....
