Replacement Band

I was wondering if anybody knew the price for a replacement gold/stainless jubilee band for a 1984 date just?

The price of a replacement, authentic Rolex Two Tone bracelet will be more than than the value of your 1984 Datejust.. I think that you will find new ones are over 5,000 dollars, although Rolex does offer a trade-in value of your old one towards the purchase of new during a Service..

You can find some good used ones in the 2,000 dollar range, but I would be very careful to buy one unseen. Condition is paramount for the price..

If you have the old band, trade it in to Rolex for a new one. Going on-line to source one will just about kill you........price wise.......

Send it to Michael Young. Might take a while but it will look brand new for a fraction of the price.

I'd definitely give it a shot with cleaning it up first. As long as there's not too much stretch, a quick polish may be all you need.

As others have said, I'd suggest trading it in with Rolex. Believe it or not, sourcing some parts directly from Rolex is cheaper than many online venues. I could make a living buying spare links directly from Rolex and selling them on eBay for the inflated prices some are asking for!

Send it all to an RSC and see what they'll charge for a replacement bracelet with your old one as tradein. I was very surprised at how reasonable (relative to normal Rolex prices) it was.

The problem is one of my links broke after wearing it every day for 30+ years. My AD said it should cost 4000 but it sounds a little high for just a new band.

Rolex bracelets are very, very expensive.. That's why so many have aftermarket bracelets on them... The cost of a new bracelet is often more than the value of the watch, especially when you get down to those a couple of decades old or more..

It is frequently cheaper to buy another watch with a good band on it, put leather on one, and then you have two great watches for less than the cost of a new band.. or source a good used band..

Try RSC before you assume anything. It may be as bad as everyone says, but maybe not.

Links can be repaired. It's the longterm wear and tear that is the bigger problem. If you aren't interested in trying Michael Young, you can probably buy a nice used bracelet for not much more than $1,000.

RSC in New York is the one to call on replacement bracelets. Last year, my Dad's old date just needed a new bracelet, and they were the only RSC in the US that even had one. Both Dallas, and BH told me there were none available, and never told me to call NY!
