Clasp alignment - would it help me?
Hey there
I am the proud owner of a SD and have seen a lot of posts recently about people working hard to get the clasp aligned so it sits centrally on the wrist. I am genuinely wondering if this makes a difference to how the watch sits on the wrist. The reason I ask is that I have a 6/5 link combo with the mini adjustment at the tightest hole. The SD fits well round the wrist but has a tendency to pull toward the top of my wrist (the 12 o'clock position) which means the head never stays flush in the centre of my wrist. The watch doesn't spin round - it just 'pulls' a bit and so looks a bit off centre. It's kind of annoying. If I had another link removed (from the 12 o'clock side) for a 5/5 combo and then moved the mini adjustment to the middle hole on the clasp would this make the watch fit the same round the wrist but stop the 'pull'? I'm sure some will say just try it but whenever I've had a link taken out the AD invariably threads the top of the screw by tightening/untightening too hard. And I HATE that. So I really don't want to experiment too much with links being added and taken away if it's not going to make much difference other than aesthetically. Any advice or words o wisdom? Thanks for any advice. J |

You could use the screwdriver that comes with teh watch to remove links and move the links on the clasp and see what happens. That way you have no worries from an AD messing up the screws.

would an AD ever pass the SD toolkit if you purchased a different type of watch. ie. you purchase the DJ and the AD just covers one eye and puts it in the box as part of the package

Clasp centralization is often a too exaggerated problem, imho. Whether the clasp is aligned or not depends on how you look at it. If you turn your wrist and check, you would often see a "misaligned clasp".
But if you move your left hand (if you're wearing your watch on the left wrist, that is!) to your left chin and look down on the clasp, you would see an aligned clasp. Anyway, here is a tutorial on how to adjust the SUB bracelet. Although it does not give instructions on how to adjust the SD bracelet, it still might help. Click here to go to the tuturial.
