1969 Submariner Accuracy
Hi: I just had my SD cleaned, and it seems to be running -10 seconds/24 hrs. I just reset it per USN Observatory time, and will see what happens in a weeks time. Before the cleaning it was -30 seconds/24 hrs.
This is my daily wear, and 1st Rolex. Been doing the Casio/Timex thing all my life. What a change. I can't believe what a cool feeling this is. Not sure how fussy I should be regarding the accuracy. Oh...any ideas on where to get genuine replacement parts other than an AD. Need a nice 580 endpiece to replace damaged one. Thanks, Hobie |

Hi Hobie your topic is a 69 sub then you go on to a Seadweller?.If you have had your watch serviced by Rolex, take it back and ask them to regulate it for you. Most ADs with a watch technician, could do this very easily takes about 30 Min's.Your watch should be set to the COSC standard -4 to +7 secs over 24 hours.

Welcome to TRF, Hobie. Glad to have you here. Padi answered your timing question, so I won't be repetitive. We would love to see some pics of your watch. BTW, which is it - an SD or a Sub. Doesn't matter, we like both (and many others).
Do stick around and enjoy the fun here. We love participation. It's what makes TRF rock.

Hi Guys:
Thankx for the reply. Sorry about the confusion on my Submariner. It's the one with the date. I had a local guy do the cleaning, not a AD. I'm thinking this may have been a mistake as it seems to have come back with a few scratches etc that I don't remember being there when I dropped it off. What I should have done was scanned the watch before I took it in for servicing. That way I would have some legs to stand on should there have been any question of condition. Live and learn. But like I said, I'm not 100% sure, and would have no way of proving my suspicion. Does everyone pretty much use an AD for cleaning? Thankx Again, Hobie |

Use of an AD is preferred, but some do use local watch makers. It depends. Many ADs don't do the work onsite, rather they ship to the local Rolex office for work, causing the owner to be without their watch for extended periods (like 4-12 weeks, depending on the distance and the work to be done). |

i think the reason he used SD was for sub date i don't think he was aware that SD is what we use for seadweller here. no biggie just lost in translation.
to answer your question padi is spot on -10sec is not within C.O.S.C spec i would take it to you AD and have it regulated. |

Hi Hobie,
Welcome to TRF. Most of these guys have already answered your questions so there's not much I can chime in with except to say that I hope you do have a good time here. Cheers - JJ
