Input Needed - (Hopeful) New Purchase
Long time lurker. First time poster.
I am looking to purchase my first Rolex within the next 6-12 months. I'm going to be going with a DJII. My issue is, which one. I am looking either at a new SS Rodium/Blue Arabic, with fluted bezel or a pre-owned TT Grey/Green Roman DJII. Both are beautiful watches but very different looks. I likely will be able to get them both for a similar price - within a few hundred dollars of each other. I know it all depends on what I like and I should purchase whichever suits me better, but I like hearing other's thoughts. In the end, I know whichever I choose will be the right one. I'm just torn. Same watch; 2 diff styles; new vs. pre-owned. Also, I currently have a TAG Carrera Day/Date and a Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Chronometer. I'm thinking about possibly putting the UN in a trade towards the Rolex, but again, I'm torn. 3 watches are better than 2, but the trade would obviously help defray some of the cost. Just looking for some input. Thanks. |

Go spend some time at Rolex AD's trying them on several different times, and then see which one you like the best.

i'd go with all silver and bars. fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet if you want to be noticed, smooth bezel with oyster bracelet otherwise. and a diamond dial if you really want to be noticed!

Even if you buy else where (Everyone has their own right to buy from where ever they please) Go to a local AD and try them on, and see which one sings to you best. Because.. those 2 are really tough choices, I love both lol. A great dilemma to have ! |

Thanks all! I've tried both on numerous times. I didn't pick these by internet browsing. Out of all DJIIs out there, this is what I have it narrowed down to. I've tried on a bunch of different Rolexes: DJ, DJII, Sub, GMT, Yacht, Millgauss, etc. I just really like the DJII and I'm torn on which between these.
Anyone who may have had a similar dilemma? |

Get the TT Grey/Green Roman.
The SS Rodium/Blue Arabic is hard to read in some lights. Just my 2 cents |

I like the green with gold... Only mostly because I'm an Oakland A's fan! :P

I owned a TT DJ many years ago. It was a great watch that I wore in all settings. I kept it for 20 years. Should have hung on to it.

I like the green Romans. A bit of color makes me enjoy watches more, rolex in particular.

Both are quite nice and both work well in all conditions. The TT will give you more of bling factor. Good luck on your choice. If you really love that reference only then get one and save for the other.

Of the DJ2 dials I believe the blue sticks is the most popular here if that means anything to you.

I do like the look of the green roman dial with the YG.
As to the SS models, I had a black dial one, did nothing for me. Rhodium one is a bit more 'conservative' so depends on your personality. |

I faced almost the same dilemma, but I was considering the black dial with Romans. Ended up walking into a local shop that does a lot of pre-owned Rolex business and they had a TT grey/green for a fair price. Walked out with it and have been thrilled. Either choice would be hard to say was a bad decision though!

Such a tough decision.
Also have the dilemma of whether to put my Ulysse towards to purchase. I guess I should be happy that these are the decisions I'm faced with! |

I would get the one with the blue Arabic dial because the color is nice and it puts contrast on your watch. I feel it may be too dull if the whole watch is in Silver/SS color
