In 1984 I turned down two gems - a 1970 Plymouth Road Runner convertible for $5,000 and a 1969 Shelby GT 428 Mustang for $12,000.
Don't get me started on cars I either should have bought or should not have sold...

This event was also a smorgasbord of Rolex spotting in the wild, everything from a Skydweller to very well worn 60's vintage datejusts and everything in between.
Cheers

The 260 would have been the big motor on the 64 1/2 Mustang. The 289 was introduced on the 65 model. The 350H was the only early Shelby with an automatic trans. Finally, the 69 Shelby GT would have been a GT500 and $12K would have been typical pricing in 84. The GT is a Mustang performance model designation, not a Shelby.

With a little digging I found this:

http://www.mustang-s.com/years/1965/1965_engine_260.htm

They only offered it for about 5 months; must be a fairly rare bird.

You learn something new everyday... thanks!

Production was full blast from day one and there is nothing rare about the early 65, later dubbed 64 1/2, or the 260 CID V8.
