Hey trf friends has anybody tried any exotic meats? Friend of mine told me about this place any suggestions i would like to try lion meat http://www.exoticmeatmarkets.com

Well there is two restaurants in my area who serve lion meat, it is legal i was asking of anybody has tried it.

i haven't... farthest i've gone is kangaroo (tastes like beef) and crocodile (tastes like chicken though slightly more rubbery)

Not sure if kangaroo is regarded as exotic. Its not a meat I would eat as an everyday meat due to its taste and smell...very 'liver-ish'. I only had it twice.

I don't even like pork here due to the dried pee smell/taste of it including pre-made pork sausages from the supermarket. I found out after some digging around that the smell/taste is due to the way pigs are raised where they were not sterilised before a certain age, apparently we are the few countries that doesn't do the right step to prevent that dry piss odour in pork.

Gave up eating meat several years ago.....I will eat some fish once in awhile......but beef/chicken/pork nope.
To big of an animal lover I guess. Cheese and dairy products I will use .....not a real hard core vegetarian like some but it may be the cause of me losing 100 pounds.

I'm not one to judge because I'm carnivorous but carry a conscious knowing how messed up we treat animals. But really??? Would you actually buy lion meat? How is this company in business?

I've had wild boar, alligator, venison, kangaroo, and McDonald.

kind of interesting seeing people offended by the thought "lion as a meal?"

Insight from India about medium rare rib eye steak would be interesting too.

I am afraid my "the most exotic" would be China take away, othervise I like to blend wth locals while travelling so it is connected with trying whatever food is considered as good in the area.

The last 3-4 years meat has not been tasting very good so I have stopped eating it most of the time. But I am not a vegetarian either...I think the medications that I am on for RA is what is making meat taste gamy!!!

I stopped eating there when they stopped cooking the roast in the front of the store...who knows what goes on in their back rooms!!!

We do have one place left in our area called Cal's Roast Beef where they still serve real roast beef sandwiches and not that pressed loaf crap!!!

They also have the best fried, onion rings...they batter dip them by hand and then into the fryer they go!!!

We do a "mystery meat" every year at Christmas and some of them are fairly exotic. The strangest was sea cucumber. The killer part was that the minimum purchase was 24lbs of the stuff. We ended up giving about 20 lbs to a restaurant that fried it up and put it with a dipping sauce.

Tried frog-legs,snails, horse-meat, crocodile,ostrich,snake,sparrows,bat and rat, and a few other unquestionable meats in my travels far and middle east.But deep down prefer most of the normal western world meats like beef,pork,lamb and chicken.

I ate meat in some pretty dodgy restaurants, both foreign and domestic. Does that count?!?!?!

I tried a bit of monkey meat while training in Panama. It tasted like beef, but it was stringy and tough, and it could have been that way for any number of reasons.

I've eaten a few frog legs, some bunny, a bit of deer, and I tried some shark once in New York. The shark didn't impress me much.

I don't think I've eaten anything else that could be considered exotic. However in the military I've eaten in a number of third world countries and it's a bit hard to completely rule it out.

Besides exotic when it comes to meat means it's not typically the norm by most. However for example in Korea they used to eat dog. Meat really is just meat after all.
