Toyota Trucks?
Anyone else a fan of Toyota trucks? I have an '04 Tacoma and I love mine! Sadly I don't have any pictures on my computer.

Yes! 219,000 miles on my fully built 1996 TRD supercharged FZJ80. Lived much of it's life above 8,000', when I lived in Colorado. Spends time today at the Beach hauling our boards to the water or skis into the Eastern Sierra backcountry.
I have lost count how many times we have been back and forth between CA and CO. Up next...wife and I are planning to meet up with friends South of the Border, for an overland surf/camp trip down Baja California with four other LandCruisers. Zero issues.

Yup!
I had a rusty frame that got me a crazy $$ settlement from Toyota and bought a newer better truck. I sold it years later for a very good price. Those trucks owe me nothing! I loved them when I had them. I would buy another Tacoma in heartbeat if I wanted a small truck. Nothing else comes close.

That seems to be the story! I have met many Toyota owners with over 200k miles and very little problems. I am hoping to have the same with my Tacoma. I bought it used, and put 20k miles on it in the almost 2 years that I have owned it. It still a "baby" with 113k.

I have a 2010 Tacoma standard cab. It's got no frills, but the reason why I bought it is because I was able to get rid of my 1994 4-Runner with the Federal rebate and I just needed a basic truck for getting my stuff to and from the range.

Love tacos. Especially lifted, low offset small wheels and boggers.

Had a 1999 Tacoma with 169000 miles on it when I sold it. Currently I have a 2007 tundra with 123000 miles and thinking of trading for the 2014 tundra but am undecided.

I'm on my fifth Landcruiser. A 2013. My old one is still running like new with 223k on it. The only thing I've had to do is put gas and brake pads on them. I live on a mountain so I go through pads often. Love my cruiser! Wouldn't drive anything else!

2014 tacoma for myself. We spend a lot of time in the mountains, most of it on logging roads. They are awesome vehicles. |

Had a 91 xtra cab 4x4 pickup with a 4 cylinder and 5 speed stick in Cardinal Red. Put a set of 31/10.50x15 Mickey Thompson's on it with chrome wheels. Alpine stereo & amp, 12" Blue Thunder woofers with a tweeter and mid range on the top sat on the jump seats. Totaled it and bought the same thing but a 93 in garnet red. Put the same wheels/tires & stereo in it and drove it for 10 years and well over 120k miles before the speedo broke. I plowed with that one too. Great trucks

Top Gear did a series a few years ago "Killing a Toyota" still around on you tube.
After seeing this I was really impressed and bought a Toyota, but eventually missed the refinement in fit and finish and flipped it. Never once let me down though. |

I've owned six over the years but the wife wanted a titan so now we have that but I would not take a second thought if a decent older Toyota with a 22r engine and 5sp trany popped up at a fair price in my area. Oh and 4x4. I would also love To find a 84 or 85 Celica GTS coupe. Those are a total blast to drive and again that 22r engine is awesome in that little car.

parents just picked up a lexus rx350. great car (not really a truck but close enough i suppose), though imo lexus has gotten too pricey... for the money i'd rather get something german
there was a time when lexus was 30% cheaper than its german competition across the product line. now a lot of their models cost about the same. |

Toyota make amazing trucks..... If you go to remote places such as northern territory in Australia etc. you're a little crazy if you drive much else. They go forever and parts are very easily accessible, due to everyone having one and the fact that all of the big mining companies generally use them. Try breaking down in some small outback town in your Range Rover and see how long you are waiting for parts. I've been told stories of families waiting weeks to get specific parts shipped over for less common or reliable brands. Weeks!! and without a car you ain't going anywhere in those places, so you better hope you can find somewhere to stay. Those would be extreme examples but IF your Toyota truck breaks down, parts and repair won't be a big issue.
How good and reliable they are is the reason they are the vehicle of choice in such harsh places. |

Ive only bought new Toyota cars and trucks since 1981....which was my first Toyota Truck. We have a 07 Highlander right now and love it. The only time I strayed from Toyota was buying a 2001 Civic EX....worst car I had ever owned. When I look at cars or trucks now it only Toyota or Lexus....I learned an expensive hard lesson.

Love my '06 4Runner:
Here are some of the reasons why: "The Toyota 4Runner was named the "Highest Ranked Midsize SUV in Initial Quality" in the J.D. Power and Associates 2005 Initial Quality StudySM (IQS)*, and the "Most Dependable Midsize Sport Utility Vehicle" in the J.D. Power and Associates 2005 Vehicle Dependability StudySM (VDS). All 4WD 4Runners are equipped with a two-speed transfer case with low range for handling steep off-highway inclines or descents. Downhill Assist Control (DAC) is designed to augment the low-speed descending ability of low-range by holding the vehicle to a target speed with no intervention from the driver. The Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) system, standard on all models, provides additional control for off-road driving by helping to keep the vehicle stationary while starting on a steep incline or slippery surface. The 4Runner body-on-frame chassis employs full-length boxed section frame rails that use large diameter body mounts for high torsional rigidity and excellent cabin noise isolation. Towing capacity is 5,000 pounds for V6 models, 7,000 pounds for V8 4WD models and 7,300 pounds for V8 2WD models. All 4Runner models are equipped with skid plates for the engine and fuel tank, with 4WD models adding one for the transfer case, as well. Sophisticated Dynamic Control with STAR SAFETY SYSTEM(TM) The STAR SAFETY SYSTEM includes VSC, TRAC, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist to help provide optimal vehicle control and driving safety. Four-channel, four-sensor ABS helps to prevent the wheels from locking during severe braking conditions, while EBD distributes proper brake force between the front and rear wheels according to driving conditions. Brake Assist is designed to determine if the driver is attempting emergency braking and, if the driver has not stepped firmly enough on the brake pedal to engage the (ABS), the system supplements the applied braking power. The VSC system helps keep the 4Runner going on the intended course by detecting front-wheel slide and rear-wheel slide during cornering and attempting to control either condition with torque intervention and/or by braking individual wheels. The traction control (TRAC) feature helps reduce tire slippage during acceleration. The 4WD models use an additional yaw sensor, a deceleration sensor, and control algorithms to deliver smoother torque on any surface, including low-range and locked center differential conditions. Standard equipment for the 4Runner SR5 model includes cruise control, power door locks and windows (including rear gate window) with driver’s auto up/down function, two 12v outlets, remote keyless entry with rear hatch window power-down operation, a rear tonneau cover and illuminated entry. All exterior glass shields 94 percent or more of UV rays, and the windshield, side windows and side mirrors use water-repellent glass". Just to mention a few, lol, (from topspeed.com) |

I was shopping for a 2-3 year old Tacoma Sport over the last year, I was shocked at how they held their value and the prices they brought.
Ultimately, for me, I couldn't live without leather interior and decided to keep my Cherokee for a few more years. |

My wife and I both have Nissan Xterras but about to fall out if warranty. I'm very seriously considering giving mine to my son and 'downgrading' to a 4 cylinder 2wd Tacoma due to its increased fuel economy and no frills robustness to power us through the years while my son is away at school, clinicals etc.

I bought this 1999 4Runner Limited new. Here is a pic of it at the beach a few weeks ago. This thing is amazing. This 15 year old Toyota is probably better than a new MB or BMW SUV. |

I have a no frills 2007 access cab and love it. She just runs and that is all I want. I don't need giant tires, flares, etc. etc. etc. not out to impress people. I am a pretty simple person that wants a reliable vehicle period. So far 100K and she keeps on a ticking. Oil change ever 4 to 6K.

I love my '11 Toyota Tacoma 5 speed access cab. Took awhile to find it but my brother-in-law is the finance manager at nearby dealer and saved me one. Apparently as soon as a manual version hits the dealer floor it's gone.
It's the most unassuming vehicle choice I've ever made and bullet proof. That said, my Rolex and car have not been in balance for a few years. |
