NEW Rolex DEEPSEA Sea-Dweller D-Blue dial Edition

Already given the nickname "DEEPSEAWEED" by members here, I felt it needed an official thread with pictures.

"COMMEMORATING JAMES CAMERON'S HISTORIC SOLO DIVE. ONE MAN'S JOURNEY TO THE DEEPEST PLACE ON EARTH:THE BOTTOM OF THE MARIANA TRENCH."

I can see many of them going to modification companies just for the green text alone

I prefer my original all black DSSD.

Although, is the dial a sunburst finish like the dial on the green ceramic sub that looks green then black at other angles?

Rolex is loving the use of colors. Now the DSSD, Blue Dial - Black Bezel - Green Writing.

I'm not so keen on the placement and color of "DEEPSEA", but the dial treatment is growing on me.

There's no change other than the dial, and we already recognize three dial variants of the DeepSea, perhaps we could consider this the DSSD Mark 4 dial. Until I see one in person, I still prefer my original version DSSD.

I would like it a lot better if it had a blue ceramic bezel.

Considering the black dial version is a little over $12k MSRP , I seriously doubt this one is going to be less than the black dial version. My guess is a $700 to $1200 premium over the current model. Just makes the DSSD even harder to sell at that price.

I need to see this one in the flesh to determine if I like. Many are saying they don't like the green lettering. I think it may look cool. We will see.

So it looks like "green" is the new "red"

It's got future collectable written all over it in Deep-Seaweed green.
I wonder if in decades to come we will be talking about and posting pics of our highly coveted original Double Greens.

Being the picky type I still prefer my MK II from an ownership perspective.
But the new offering has missed the boat in some way.
Time will tell. (no pun intended)

I will just have to reserve final judgement and wait to see it in person.

I think it's totally cool, like that it's something different and new. I've been getting rather bored with my black dial subs and SDs. Think it's very fitting the blue to black theme. Not 100% sold on the green text of DEEPSEA yet but def want to see one in person.

Wow, that's an ugly one IMHO.

No need to try that one on.

Don't even know if I'd buy one if I needed to Dive 12,800 ft--silly.

What a huge disappointment...
