15703st vs 5167A

I think there are several points where these pieces crossroads and several where they diverge.

AP Diver/ PP Aquanaut Cross points

-Rubber Strap
-Entry level (similar price )
-Swim adequate
-Comfortable to wear
-Good Resale (it might be better for PP, don't know)
-Great Lumen
-Bezels are prone to scratch (not sure if one is more prone than the other)

AP Diver/PP Aquanaut diverging points:

- One is obviously a Diver with more WR
- AP has more weight/wearing presence vs Patek is more elegant
- PP has transparent case back to see the movement, AP not
- AP has an inner rotating bezel to measure time elapse, PP not
- AP has 60 hrs power Reserve vs PP 45 hrs
- AP case size is bigger (42X13.8 mm vs 40X9 mm)

Not sure about replacement rubber price but I think Patek strap might be cheaper. Also 3120 movement has history of running fast but from what I heard is not an issue anymore.

But at the end of the day which one would you take home

Completely different wrist presence to me. Diver is a larger watch on the wrist and probably a 'sportier' watch. Albeit, the 5167 is on rubber, it can certainly dress up fairly quickly, as Diver is not as versatile in that regard.

Depends upon you lifestyle and collection.

For my $ I would probably lean towards 5167 as it fits the collection (have 44mm AP's to fill other gaps).

Both great values for their respective brands.

I'm really not an Aquanaut fan - so I would (and did) get a Diver.

I just don't think the PP works...although I'm sure many would disagree.

Diver with taller case and ss bezel can get pretty dinged up (seen some pretty scratched ones).

Neither is a beater watch...use the Rolex for that.

Agreed, would not recommend using either for rough n tumble stuff, finish is just too sublime for that IMO. Personally of the two I prefer the Diver, but it's entirely subjective, get the one that sings to you the loudest.

They have to be owned together and should be sold as a set!

I love the 5167R, but all I have is RG Pateks. Cross my mind now the AP diver so I don't end up with 3 Pateks, also the AP is Sportier than my Nautilus or the Aquanaut for that matter. But in the other hand Aquanaut is so versatile and gorgeous !!! Plus in a way I already have a Diver (Hulk)
Still thinking .....
Don't want a buy now, I want a enjoy these 3 without adding for at least end of the year..... I know I can make it. Never impulsive again ! Wish me luck !

Just beautiful
Not helping
The pool is so tight, if I still want it by the end of the year that means I should add it, mix feelings because I really want my 3 watch theory to work ....will see if any of these 2 watches is still in my mind by then.

Lol. Is good to don't feel alone in this. My kid inside want a go and get it now. But if I learned something from my flipping history is that I know better. So I think is best for the mind, to set up a time frame ( 3 , 4 months or whatever) so you don't end up caving too soon and then a possible regret.
So yes I wish you good luck and advise you to set up a time frame.

I considered both carefully and went with the 5167 because I find it more comfortable and below the radar, which I value.

Jorge,

Either one of those options would be redundant in your collection.

Neither can replace the Sub and neither can do casual or dress as good as 5712 or 5205 can.

The watches you listed are suited for larger collections IMO.

The AP diver is very cool but the bezel will get scratches if used as a vacation beater so it cannot do the Sub duty.

The Aquanaut is a funny one. It's a more elegant wanna be sports watch.

I might get some heat for saying this but Patek does not do real sports watches.

It can do amazing "chic sport" watches AKA Genta masterpiece Nautilus but not true divers, rough and tough watches like a Rolex does. Remember I've always said this. There is no Sub replacement and it's true.

So, the Aquanaut is a great watch to add to a large collection like Ken has but I don't see it in a 3-4 watch collection. It just does not have the iconic status to go along with your other choices.

Plus I don't find a Patek and rubber should coexist. There I said it.

There is true in your statements, I am trying to get away from the idea. I have this pic to help me do it

Hope I can do it, will find out at end of the year, I either buy one of those two or succeed and skip it .
