The Greatest VW Commercial of All Time!

Hey Guys:

Back in the 1960's, VW made some really great commercials about the Beetle.

This one was voted #1 in several polls, and I have to agree!

Hope it brings back some fond memories about the ubiquitous air-cooled wondercar!

Owned a dozen VW's, 5 of them were air cooled classics. Their self deprecating advertising was affective and memorable, which is the goal of advertising in the first place. Sadly, VW no longer understands what makes marketing work.

The driver froze his a$$ of getting to the snow plow, I had a 68 bug, the heating was nonexistent, but it was great in the snow.

Witty and award winning.

The Volkswagen series of advertisements (which included the 1959 Think Small ad) were voted the No. 1 campaign of all time in Advertising Age’s 1999 The Century of Advertising.

Never had a Beetle but my Grandfather did. I still remember the hollow metal sound made when you closed the doors. It was more like a bell ring rather tan the thud made by other cars of the time. I loved getting a ride in the front seat. Great memories!

I bought this one as a commuter for my first wife in about 1978.
It was an interesting experience (so was she)
The handling was just awful, the lights were quite inadequate for night driving, the brakes were terrible, but as absolute basic transport, it was great.
Better value than my first wife anyhow.
