Windows 8.1, you can put it in a mode that it will boot to the desktop and also its much lighter than Windows 7.

BTW - my speed machine I built runs 8.1. It is as fast as they get short of really high end ubergamer gear.

For those that want the best balance of 7 & 8, install 8.1 and use a Start Menu Shell like "Classic Shell"

Best of both worlds

I run W8.1, works like a charm. A pain without classic shell.

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
photographer, buy a flute and you own a flute.

^^THIS^^ I switched my company over to all Apple everything 6 years ago. Laptops, phones, external hard-drives, iPads for everyone. Made me look like a genius. Happy, more productive folks, better products and most of all: WAAAAY less time in the shop. WAAAAAAY fewer software issues/glitches. Great customer service if ever needed. WAAAY less need need for outside intervention/tech help.

Taaaaa daaaaa. Done!

That's why people almost universally love it, it didn't require a steep learning curve.

Once you go to OS X, you'll wonder how you ever used Windows at all. Microsoft is a bucket of aggravation (and security flaws.)
