Help on next rolex

I am looking to the group for some feedback and guidance as I begin to expand my currently humble rolex collection of a modern Sub ND and Polar Exp II. I am gravitating toward the new GMT BLNR and the regular Explorer, both have caught my eye. I have thought about a Daytona but fear that might be over extending myself.
I also have two non Rolexes, a Omega Aqua Terra and Panerai 243, which I guess I need to consider in the rotation.

You already have 2 Dive, a GMT function, and a Dress. I would look for Chrono function now. Perhaps wait a while for the Daytona?

I agree with Robday. The GMTc has quickly become my go-to piece.

Any GMT would be a nice addition. You would have two watches with dual time zone capability, but the GMT is a bit dressier than the ExpII and it offers a third time zone and the rotating bezel can be used as a timer much like the Sub, except not as precise.

Personally, I have my sights set on other chronographs, rather than the Daytona, which is very expensive and the SS model is hard to read.

I'd go for the GMT BLNR since you have the Sub, which is your dive watch, and your Explorer II which is your sports watch (24-hour indicator...NOT A GMT). The BLNR would serve you well

If you do have a spare $12k+ to throw down for a Daytona then I'd say go for it if you'd prefer, but that GMT would be a great addition.

I'd buy an Omega Speedmaster Pro (moonwatch) if I were in your shoes. Obviously not a Rolex, but still a legendary watch and would fit nicely in your collection.

I have struggled with the Daytona, the dollars are substantial, having a Chrono would fill a need, and it's certainly iconic. Some say it wears very small. When I go down the Chrono road I get distracted by other brands. I need to explore this some more.

Well since this is the open discussion forum, is it not blasphemous to suggest a royal oak? You have two fantastic Rolex already. I'd let loose the Pam to help fund it and buy smart.

In Rolex house though, I like the blnr and hulk!

I'm relatively new here so take this with a grain of salt, but I think there are other great chonos out there that I like more than the Daytona. It's still a great watch, but I like the idea of having a nice collection of multiple watches to choose from that include but are not exclusively Rolex. Unfortunately I don't have a chrono in mind to suggest, but it's just my two cents. Good luck with your decision!

I would sell everything except your Sub and use the funds towards a GMT-C (either standard or the blue/black version) and a Daytona......just my opinion! Good luck with your decision.

Thanks Woody. I appreciate the advise. That's not a bad place to end up eventually with my collection.

From your signature it looks like you too like a Sub, GMT and Daytona!

I would keep the Aqua terra.

Sub gives you a dive / wet watch
Gmt blnr gives you the travel and a classy travel watch in that
Daytona gives you a casual watch
Aqua terra gives you a formal watch.

Pan gets in the way of the Daytona. Both just casual wearing watches

Explorer and blnr are the same.

Personally, I would do the Daytona before the BLNR.

Of course it depends on the circumstances under which you intend to wear the watch. Pick the one that your are more likely to just "wear and go".
