refurbishment reccomendation wanted

Short story- I have a datejust I purchased new in 1980, I'd like to get overhauled, and brought back to working as new.

Long story- for a present, my then wife had my crystal replaced by local watch shop. I went swimming with my daughter, and soon noticed water inside watch. Jeweler told me I should not swim with watch!!!!. I assume Sub-standard crystal installed. Anyways, they replaced crystal and a face which was much darker blue than original. I haven't swum with watch since, but have seen condensation inside when watch got wet. I'm sure statute of limitations have run out for me trying to get restitution from the hack jeweler, and my divorce is thankfully long past. I'd just like to get my watch back as it was.

Can you guys recommend a shop to refurb my watch? I'd really like the old light blue face as well, would a registered rolex outfit be able to figure out what was original to the watch? I'm in MA.

thanks
Steve

RSC is Rolex Service Center. You can send it to either Dallas, or New York City. Call them first, and they will give you information on how to mail it there.

Welcome to TRF!

X1,000!!

Time Care Inc.

Call Rik Dietel to discuss your watch with him. You will be impressed with the results. He is a magician.

I'd go with RSC. The TRF community's biggest criticism of RSC is they refinish watches to like-new by replacing what is worn. Sounds like what you want.
Others criticized RSC for altering the originality of their watches. Yours already has replacement parts, so not as big of an issue.

Ddf rik or a local. You'll pay at least twice as much at Rsc, and might not
Be as pleased w the results.

Please do yourself a favor and call Rik Dietel tomorrow before you consider an RSC. He has over 30 years experience and unlike RSC, Rik does all the work himself. With RSC, many different people work on your watch which sometimes means a lack of quality and accountability.

I am a fan of Rolex Service Center NY. Had nothing but amazing results from them! Your watch will come back new. It's not cheap though. I know many here use others and some are "ok" with that but would you take your Ferrari to a "Jack of all trades Foreign Shop?" instead of the Ferrari dealer ..... NO! Just sayin'
