Another UK store robbery

This is a scarey one plus only a few miles up the motorway from where I stay

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...-west-29348487

Four masked men armed with hammers have staged a daylight raid on several jewellers in Glasgow's Argyll Arcade.

The men burst into the arcade, between Argyle Street and Buchanan Street, at about 12:45.

They stole some watches from Rox and failed in bids to rob Mappin and Webb, Laing the Jeweller and Lewis Grant.

Yeah only a few miles away from me as well. Pretty scary stuff. Shopped in there a number of times. There are videos of them running out on to Buchanan Street wielding their axes and baseball bats.

I have been in my local AD when it was raided. We all got pepper sprayed and told to lie on the ground. Not a pleasant experience. Luckily they only hit display cabinets and didnt rob any of the customers and staff.

The brazeness of the robbers gets worse as the unemployment rate goes up.

Desperate people do desperate things. Always have, always will.

Here is the USA, the government claims that the rate is 6.1%; but if they calculated it honestly (aka using the 1981 formula) it is closer to 21%.....

Why do they rob watch stores? Because that's where the watches are !!

I think things are going to get worse before they get better; not a bad idea to hide your valuables!

I'm not sure it is about 'unemployment' so much as about a general deterioration in morals and standards of behaviour linked with ongoing drug dependence of an increasing proportion of the population.
For all of that, crime statistics in Australia have been falling for over a decade. Perhaps a good 'social security safety net' is helping.

Wow you should get a free rolex for that. Sort of like the college roommate 4.0 myth

As long as economies are tanking and and unemployment is high there will be those individuals who will rob stores and individuals for their belongings!!!
