Hey, you movie buffs...

Seen a good one lately?

Some good films released during the last week....all Oscar nominees for one category or another. Looking forward to seeing the following:

1. North Country.
2. Walk the Line (Rheese Witherspoon seems like a sure winner for this one!)
3. Brokeback Mountain.
4. Munich (saw it last week!)

Any comments and reviews would be appreciated.

Thanks - JJ

Yeah, I know that....probably one reason why I'm not too keen on seeing it....I don't like movies about gays.

You mean you gave away the gay porn collection you told me so much about when we were there? Personally it's not my thing (at the least the man on man stuff) but you seemed to be excited about it......I guess farm animals are now your thing, eh?

Frankly JJ, this statement really does surprise me.

I always pictured you as informed, knowledgeable, intelligent and accepting of all people. You certainly tolerate well the joking comments and jibes by your friends on this forum. People with this ability usually are possessed of a strong sense of self-confidence and comfort with others.

Since you state you don't like movies about gays, perhaps you could enlighten us with the names of the last 4 or 5 you've seen. But then again, you couldn't have seen them since you already knew you didn't like them. An enigma perhaps?

I did see Brokeback Mountain and felt the acting, directing photography and screen play were superb. If you look at the movie closely homosexuality is ancillary to the real themes of forced relationships, tolerance, love and understanding.

JJ, I apologize for going off on you like this but you hit one of my buttons. Had you actually seen the film and had legitimate criticism I would have totally respected your opinions and probably remained mute. We all, myself included, need to refrain from prejudging.

Hi Richard,

I have in the past seen similar films and they have left a bitter taste in my mouth. The theme just doesn't appeal to me. Granted that the acting, direction, etc. must be of a high standard (hence the Oscar nominations), but such kind of films are not my type.

Perhaps I am being a bit prejudice and unfair (considering that I still haven't seen the film), but really I know it's not my cuppa.

Cheers - JJ

If he got a bitter taste in his mouth, are we sure he actually SAW the movie? Yet one more reason to have a fresh box of Kleenex on hand

I was #4 to begin with. I may have slipped to #5 with James' ascent to #1. Can't remember where he was initially.

BTW JJ, what kind of taste was it? like a lemon?
