Hello all I think I need some help and suggestions :)

I have attached a picture of some of my current collection for discussion purposes. Preface..........Many of these watches were purchased brand new (warranty in my name) and have remained in the box in a safe their entire life)

Here are some of my thoughts and I lack guidance right now.

1. I love Daytonas, I want to keep both but why am I doing that? I will be acquiring a Platona very soon so I am not sure I need the 18k diamond dial one. The chocolate stays What would you guys do....just hang on to the yellow gold one or kiss her goodbye?

2. I have two GMT C in 18k gold, both with the same black dial......I have only worn one of them and sparingly.....I guess one should go?

4. BNIB V serial Milgauss GV, never put on my wrist....why am I keeping this around? Would anyone else hang on to a watch like that if you will never wear it?

5. Panerai 312 L series bought brand new and still sits brand new. I will never wear it.....what would you do?

6. The datejusts stay I guess, ones an old model that has meaning behind it, and I just like the other one but it too is BNIB with stickers on

6. The LV, SD 4000 and Explorer 2 stay but heres the big question.....

What would you get rid of, why and what would you replace it with.....

I am open to any model except for:

date just 2

36mm president

How would you guys move things around and what would you get and why?

p.s. My explorer 2 is my favourite out of every one of these

Wow, lots of sound suggestions here, but a lot of different ones, too. Not sure we're helping? :)
FWIW, this would be my plan, corresponding to your itemized thoughts above:
1) Keep, keep, and congrats on the incoming. They all differ in dial and metal. I love Daytonas too, and even received guidance from our forum brothers and sisters regarding owning multiple examples of Daytonas. The bulk of the responses was "yes," and I echo that sentiment here. Keep 'em all!
2) Yes, keep the unused one and sell the used one. The difference in price realized probably won't be much, so nicer to have the newer one.
4) I wouldn't keep it. With the new blue dial choice out there, I don't see the value of the black dial GV going up, so sell now.
5) Sell the Panerai.
6) Keep both.
6) Stay they will.
I don't think you need replacements for the ones you sell off. Besides, you have a history of adding, so any "replacements" will find their way. Also note: my suggestions really mirror what you seem to feel already (if I'm interpreting your notes as you meant). I'm not re-stating your sentiments so much as agreeing with your sound reasoning. Sell off a few before you decide what to bring in. That way, what is "missing" will be easier to determine. Good luck!!

Yes, I too am curious. Why purchase and not wear the watches?

Is it just the joy of possession? And maybe keeping them in unused condition makes it sweeter? I don't want to be too critical because it is your money and you have every right to do whatever you want with it. But enjoy your watches!!!! Wear them!!!! You have a fantastic collection. And dump what you don't wear. Just my 2 cents but to each his own my friend.

I would have your collection look like pic below and add one YG GMT and I would be done with everything else, cause that's what I did so.....

Thank you so much for the detailed response. I think your points reflect my gut feeling to a tee.....in fact I decided to wear the yellow gold Daytona today and I can't part with it. I will move one GMT the panerai and the milgauss. As far as replacements you might be correct as well. Nothing sings to me except for possibly the BLRO or call me crazy but a rose gold Daytona on bracelet.....

Thank you again as this was really helpful

And thanks to everyone else that took the time to respond I really appreciate it. What a wonderful place TRF is.

You have absolutely beautiful pieces! Your pictures look fantastic as well! I do like having stainless in the collection but am finding that the explorer 2 and Daytona (even though I don't have stainless Daytona) are easier to wear due to the fact that they slip under a sleeve better. This may sound silly but I have a solid 6 months of winter coming up, minus 40 for months on end at times and it's always sweaters and jackets and gloves. The bigger sports watches are a pain sometimes due to the higher profile. So my question is.......is the BLRO comfortable but then I realize it would wear the same as my GMTs ......

I think it's time to just rid myself of things that sit around, let someone else enjoy these beautiful pieces as they were intended and be happy until Basel 2015

Plus i want to add that the watches I do wear, I wear in good health and don't baby them. I have mentioned previously that I'll wear my Daytona from hiking to jack hammering masonry and everything in between.

First things first, sell the duplicates and anything you just aren't bonding with. Then look at what's left. Do it step at a time...with such a magnificent collection as yours, it can get overwhelming if you decide to tackle everything at once...

Just re-read your original post OP and am surprised that you identified the 216570 Polar as your favourite of the lot...it's a great watch no doubt but when you have a stable such as yours...what a fabulous thumbs up for the 216570!!!! Wow!!!!

You desperately need the WG Sub...and the Platona to complete that dream collection.

Thanks so much for the kind words in your previous post (I don't know how to quote more than one )

Also yes the 216570 hands down, by a long long shot does it for me more than any other. It used to be my least favourite of ALL rolexes. I still hate the way the bezel looks........but the overall package is just a dream to me. It just seems more fun than any of the others, like it doesn't take itself too seriously but can be the most reliable tool when needed.

Amazing, I had to look at that picture again and again......so nice.

Quick question.....is the sub a different hue of white gold than the GMT or is that camera/lighting doing that.

Get the platona and WG or YG Sub, then start a rotation where you give some love to all your watches. You bought them all for a reason, may as well enjoy them

This isn't a bad idea....the issue is I haven't only done the collecting thing with watches....there are other areas too.....I just need to stop lol. Minimize things a little and enjoy more often!
