TT GMT-IIc BEZEL: Yellow vs. Gold - Another problem with the colors?
Quote:
Can someone from those owing this watch comment on this? Do you like it like that? You probably do - so do I - but wouldn't it be even better if it was a normal gold color to match the rest of the golden parts?

My SS GMTIIC
Sorry, but maybe for the same reason that Bluesy( original ) looks so good, I feel that something is a little off in the TT GMTIIC. Either the font is a little too big, or the color is too yellow. I would really consider upgrading from my GMTIIC, but the TT GMTIIC just doesn't call out to me. I can't put my finger on why. Maybe it is the same reason that the new Bluesy looks so poor to me.

I don't think that the fonts are too big. But they are yellow and this is odd...
It would look gorgeous if it was a real "golden" gold - or maybe if it had a whole golden bezel like the daytona

There are still a few ads that have a pre-ceramic bezel tt GMT and a tt GMTIIC under the same glass.
to see them next to eachother is quite an experience...you literally find yourself arguing...with yourself. the size is not different, but the illusion on the GMTc is that it is a much bigger, bolder watch...it just really catches the eye. and the font of the digits on the bezel are much more pleasing to the eye. BUT the numbers look very Yellow...crayola like yellow. to see them side by side, the GMTc is the one you focus on...but put them on one after the other, and i think the previous model sings more. THe gold on the aluminum bezel flows with the gold on the bracelet. the smaller hour markers look classy, the print on the dial, the GMT hand the date window..all gold!...that ia a gorgeous watch... but the again, that maxi case is so impressive...oh no it's happening again...make the voices stop!... |

Maybe that's why i didn't like this watch a lot at the TT version
I was feeling that something is wrong with it It's still a great watch though

It is without doubt a gorgeous watch!!!!! But, still, I think that if the engraved numbers were GOLD instead of YELLOW it would be a dream. My belief is that Rolex can't handle the colors well on the ceramic bezels (the same problem they have with making a new Pepsi...).

The interface of the gold with the ceramic does result in a matte versus gloss finish though so the hue is slightly different. |

last year when i went to my ad to look at these i noticed it immediately before they took them from the case. the pvd gold in the bezel insert was much more yellow than the 18k on the rest of the watch. i tried on the solid gold and the tt both and i thought the gold pvd looked terrible. i knew if i noticed it from 5 feet away through the case there was no way i could live with it. they didn't have a ss version for me to look at but i ordered it anyway. i am very happy with it. the platinum looks very good against the ss. the gold models remind me of someone that put a 14k bracelet on a 18k watch, the color just don't match and at that price there is no excuse for that.

My bezel Gold PVD matches the watch colour fine.

it looks very yellow to me just like the ones i looked at when i was at my ad. it must have something to do with the pvd process.

Agree completely. It's not a color issue, it's a gloss vs. matte finish issue.
All these posts made me go grab mine and check it closely in natural light. It's a different look, but it ain't "yellow paint-like". Under a loupe, the gold is actually glossy and a close match. I also think the gold/black ceramic contrast differs from the SS/YG contrast on the rest of the watch. |

the brushed gold on the solid gold models aren't glossy and the pvd is more yellow than that.

Well don't have any brushed gold on the TT to compare it too so I guess I'll have to take your word for it until a YG owner confirms or disputes your assertion. Are you commenting from recollection. pics or do you own one?

Hey, nobody is arguing against this GORGEOUS watch
It is, in any case, FANTASTIC. But we do comment on the color difference and most of us agree that it would be better with a "golden" gold and not a yellowish one I guess that the PVD process has its difficulties with this issue.
