I'm a closet DJ fan. Actually, (please don't flame me), I really don't like the sport models except the Daytona. The large bezel with the large numbers is just too much for me.
Have DJ and Omega Aqua Terra and looking for a white SS Daytona.

I love the Datejust & think it is a classic Rolex design and recognisable from a mile away! I always wanted a TT white faced model and eventually found mine which I would never dream of selling.
I thought I'd post a picture of it although I suppose most of you are sick of seeing it by now! |

I sold my Sub LV for a DateJust. I miss the Sub a lot, but not because I'm not happy with the DJ. The TT Datejust is the first Rolex I fell in love with. Here's a picture of my one and only for the moment - SS DateJust with white roman dial

Absolutely spot on, Karis - I love mine in SS/RG, white dial and batons, on the Jubilee bracelet. A real looker, yet discreet at the same time - the ideal combination.

DJ is a great watch. Not sure why forum members are frequently sports owners.

My first two Rolexes were (and still are) TT DJs.
Like most Rolexes, you can dress them up or down, as the mood suits you.

DJ was my first Rolex and the iconic Rolex when I was younger. Sport models in general have become popular. Although they no no longer look large to me I once would have thought they were ridiculously huge. A friend of mine, who grew up in Russia, and knows and cares nothing of watches thought it hilarious when I came to work with one of my Breitlings. He went to another room and came back with the wall clock strapped to his wrist and said "Hey, Look I'm like Norm now!" The DJ is the classic Rolex, even if doesn't presently get the attention it deserves.

DJ fan here too! My first Rolex was a ladies DJ in 1980 or 1981. I don't wear ladies anymore, I have graduated to mid size and full size DJs.

I know what you mean; I have the OP Date model, very similar to the DJ, just 2 MM smaller. Most internet savy guys will naturally gravitate to the larger watches for some reason, and those are the ones who post the most. The Datejust is the Walter Mitty of the line; isn't as large, doesn't draw attention to itself, but lacks no class. Enjoy it.

I have noticed the same thing.....members of this Forum definitely lean toward the sport Rolex watches. I own a 116200 SS DJ w/oyster bracelet and prefer it over the monster 40 mm sport watches. The DJ is 36 mm, which IMO is the perfect size watch. Also, the DJ is built very durable, like a tank. But then, so are the Rolex sport watches. It all comes down to a personal preference.

It's an interesting question isn't it? Here are a few thoughts:
The DJ comes in such a variety of bezels, faces and sizes that there isn't the anal focus on the face font etc. Again because of the variety, there isn't that instant recognition of the "look" of a Sub or GMT. Without the Tritium/Luminova indices, rotating bezel (Pepsi, Coke or black), Fliplock bracelet, or the chrono functions of the Daytona, there isn't as much to talk about? Hmmm, I feel a new thread coming on... |

The "Look" of the Fluted bezel and the Jubilee Band can be spotted a mile away. I think every watch mfg has copied this "look". The fun of it is to spot it a mile away, and confirm that you are right as you get closer to spot the all too familiar Rolex Crown on the dial.
Yup, yup, yup. . . |

Both are great Relox watch. If you're a Relox lover, you must have a Datejust. When I bought my first Relox, I chose Datejust.
