Bezel Ceramic or Cerachrom?
Hi guys,
I've been looking at these new 2008 models and for bezel material it says CERACHROM where on GMT it says CERAMIC. Do you think it is a new type of bezel on new ones? Strange to see Ceramic vs new Cerachrom. What do you think? |

I think it is the same thing. The way they describe "bombarding" the ceramic with platinum to fill in the number of the dssd is the same way they fill the gold in the gmt iic

So what is the common link between "Cerachrom" and "Parachrom" (apart from Rolex, of course....)? Or they juat want everything to rhyme?

Neat. I'm not one of the Pepsi GMT nuts, but they should be pleased by this snippet from the patent filing:
"ceramic timepiece components may be obtained in the red range by using gold nanoparticles with an average diameter of between 10 and 15 nanometers dispersed in a zirconia or zirconia/alumina matrix." It goes on to say that larger nanoparticles can create blue hues. |

So are we saying that it is the same as the bezel on the GMT IIc?

Actually, I saw on a TimeZone post that there is a difference. Apparently, the "ceramic" bezels such as the YachtMasterII and the GMT-C have engraved numerals. The Cerachrom bezels have the numbers flush without any engraving. Ceramic is the same, but how the numbers are inlaid in the bezel is different...

Cerachrom is Rolex's trade name for the ceramic bezel
