Jan Michael Vincent (Airwolf) - what a shame
They guy certainly sounds like he's been no angel but this article just made me sad. In the video that accompanies it he doesn't even seem to know when his own birthday is. Watching Airwolf on the Netflix tonight and I think I'm going to forgo a beer:

He was such a stud back in the day. My buddies saw him at a bar near ten years ago and said he was nearly unrecognizable. Shame.

I couldn't watch all that video clip. I found the tone of the interviewer to be really disrespectful. Too much badgering.
We'll see a lot more of this kind of thing in the future as people from the modern, colour "TV Age" get old. Seeing people in hi-res colour then and now is a lot more striking than seeing old black and white clips or photos when compared to today. The change/ageing seems more pronounced, more real. I wouldn't be surprised to see JMV showing up in a Tarantino movie. That might be good for him, if he was into it. |

Funny but I wasn't a fan of Airwolf. I do remember him in The Mechanic though.

Sad. Alcoholism runs in my family. I've lost several uncles and cousins to the bottle. My favorite uncle died 38 years ago yesterday from alcoholism. He was 53 but looked like 80. He fought in WWII and was in the Battle of the Bulge. Mom said he was never the same after he came home. Some can process the horror of war and live with it, other's not so much.

Always seems all the more of a shame when people seem to have everything going for them. He was a bit of a 'legend in the making' in the day.
He was 'hot property' in "The Mechanic" which has remained clear in my memory for 40years. Coincidentally, it is on TV tonight, so I will give it another look as tribute to the young J-MV.

It is very sad what alcoholism and drugs can do to a person. I used to love the show when I was a kid. It was one of my favourites.
I would never have guessed that in the 80's any TV actors would have been on $200k an episode. That blew my mind, even if he was the highest paid actor on TV. Back in the 80's 200k was some serious cash. I would never have recognised him nowadays. Very sad |

He looks alright to me for 70, I cant believe that means he was 45 or thereabouts in that TV show, he looked 25. He has done in tough but survived, plenty have not.

I loved him in the 70's. The Mechanic was one of my favorite movies. Also starring Charles Bronson.

Nice looking kid, but I didn't like him as a actor so I never watched Air Wolf. I remember him from a 70's TV Movie (TRIBES) where he played a non-conformist, hippie, Marine recruit. The stories ridiculous concept destroyed otherwise solid performances by great character actors Darren McGavin and Earl Holliman as his Drill Instructors. Still sorry to hear of his troubles though.

As a product of the 80's, I found this quite sad to read. What an absolute arse of a reporter, no respect for a 70 year old.
Anyway, this is how I'll remember him... http://youtu.be/1Ycn3yH6dvs |

I meant to mention that Charles Bronson wears a vintage Sub (No Date) in "The Mechanic".
You only get a brief glimpse of it in a diving sequence towards the end. The glimpse was intended to relate to when a bomb was timed to go off but the bezel was not correctly adjusted to communicate this.

Wow....I wonder if my ex-wife saw this article....she was madly in love with him during the Airwolf days. As somebody pointed out I like the opening tune better than the show itself.
The guy thats doing the interview is a real A-hole I would have kicked his ass off my porch. |

Tough to watch. I was a huge airwolf fan and even have the theme song on my phone. That reporter is an asshole.
