Hello from Edinburgh
Hi guys,
Just checking in from Edinburgh. I have a datejust - stainless steel with whitegold bezel, on a jubilee strap, coming up for its 10th birthday - I got it for my 18th!! I am currently on the lookout for a Sub date, old-style GMTII or the ceramic one, but with a brished strap. Decisions decisions!! |

Welcome fellow scotsman-sounds like a nice watch you have there. Well it seems you like rolex so you are in the right place.
I love the new GMT too but next on my list is a sub no date- just love the classic look

Toph - I do like the sub no-date as well, but think the date just shades it for me. Maybe you can tell me what all this COSC banter about the non-date one is? Is that something you can get for the Sub-date? How much extra does it cost? Im pretty new to all this - obviously!
Dan, I will get a photo up ASAP, only problem is my camera is an iPhone, which generally sucks for photos. I absolutely love the watch, as I say it was an 18th bday present, and has barely been off my wrist since. As you can imagine its seen a lot of "action" but apart from a slight chip on the edge of he crystal and a couple of scuffs here and there, its still looking good! I should take more care of it, but for 10 years constant use, its still looking pretty nice. Its also never been serviced! I should probably do something about that tho... |

Here are few photos, but they are terrible, due to the hunk of junk iphone.
The face is an off-white, with rolex sort of "pressed" into it, all over - very subtle, almost undetectable unless you are looking up close |

Can anyone give me an insight into the M-series versus Z?-series? Whats the difference? Is the M-series still available? Which is more desirable?

For clearer pics, choose MACRO mode (indicated by a yellow lotus) and then place the camera on something solid so there is no hand shake. No flash!!
Good luck - JJ

The one I tried the other day had the Rolex inscription. I have read people slating it, but in real-life it is only noticeable if you are having a good squint at the watch. Admittedly the Rolex press shots make it more obvious than it really is.
How difficult is it to get one without the rolex inscription these days? Also, are there any second hand Sub-dates in the price range of a new one, that would make a smarter buy (on the basis that they are all very similar to the eye) Obviously love the Sub-red, but its a wee bit over my price range...) |

The inscription is indeed quite subtle.
If you're looking for one without the inscription, then look for an early Z model. You might even get lucky with the price. Good luck - JJ

Welcome
I can definitely recommend the GMT II Ceramic. Whatever you get it'll be brilliant anyway - it'll be a Rolex, after all

Hi and welcome to TRF! Great DJ you have there! A true classic. You can't go wrong with a Sub or GMT too!
