Question about rolex buckles

I know there are 18k solid YG buckles and buckles that are gold plated and have PLAQUE G engraved in the back.

I'm pretty sure there are WG buckles as well but my question would be... Are there any SS buckles? If there are any SS buckles, what do the genuine ones say on the back compared to the fakes?

I'm interested in finding out where to source one sometime after Christmas so I can put my datejust on a nice leather strap with the genuine buckle. Even if I order one through the AD or send the head to RSC so they can offer me the band/buckle, I would love to know if there are in fact SS ones or if it's only YG and WG

Thanks in advance!!

Also, I ran into an old post (hopefully I find it to post the pic here) of where JJ Irani was wearing his waych on a NATO strap and he had a buckle on. Not sure if it was a WG or SS. That's where my question came about!

Yes, Rolex made SS buckles in the past and I know I have at least one sitting around.

Hi Sergio,

That was my 14060 JJ was wearing and it is a Rolex SS buckle.

It is a touch over 18mm and just fits the 20mm NATO.

Thank you both for your quick replies!! Do any of you know how much they go for more or less? Seeing that the gold plated buckle goes for $60-$80 at RSC (even though it's only plated and not real gold or silver), what would the SS go for? thanks guys!

Myself have never seen a Rolex gold plated buckle anywhere especially in the past 25 years, today most buckles you see on say ebay are fakes. Now you can get straps with various metal buckles from Rolex but very very expencive and would doubt if they would just sell buckle on its own, and I have not seen a genuine SS strap buckle for the past 50 odd years.

Great photos! I appreciate it!

I always thought ACIER meant it was fake... unless ACIER means stainless which is why the fake gold ones on ebay say ACIER on it lol

Thank you so much for this chart! like I stated above to crowncollection, I always thought if it said ACIER, it would be fake. Again, thank you for the diagram!

I just googled what acier inox meant and sure enough, it means stailnless steel. No wonder the gold buckles on fleabay say that but are gold.... hmm interesting!
