Real or fake - need some expertise

Hi TRFers,

I won't bore with the backdrop and while I have an opinion, I would love some expert opinions.

Real or fake??

Why do you want to know?

Are you actually interested in this "piece?"

Fake. First tell is the DW all wrong in the window. Dial looks off as well. Case profile looks ok though.

I'm going back and forth on it. I have the most problem with the bracelet. Looks like rolled metal rather than a true Oyster bracelet. The coronet on the clasp also looks off to me. However as stated the case profile looks right. Looks like someone has taken an old Date and tried to trick it out with some aftermarket parts. Even if it were real I would still pass - does that work as an answer? Your friend can do far better.

It's a fake dial and aftermarket diamonds. Don't bother

Thanks guys - looked off to me as well. I noticed it said "date" vs "datejust" too. Is that a 'tell' too?

Not necessarily. My wife has a K serial (2002) date" that is a ladies size (26mm). I am sure that those models were made in other sizes but as others have mentioned this one had enough other issues that you may want to steer clear.

The "Date" was a 1500 model, smaller than a "Datejust". A mans Date was just 34mm across rather than the 38mm of a DJ. Personally...I love the 1500 Date and the 5500 (34mm) Air-King.

DJ is a 36mm, not 38mm.

Oops...sorry BrianT, my mistake. I never owned a DJ so kinda just guessed at 38. I have to say, though, that I do love the 34mm watches.

Case and band are real although poorly polished. Dial and bezel are fake/aftermarket
