Going to Packers-Cowboys game at Lambeau

Just got a call from a buddy who has an extra ticket, so another trip to Lambeau this year. Hope my Explorer brings the Pack some good luck in the cold weather! 2 for 2 so far this year on previous trips. Go Pack Go!

And it was Bart Starr's 81st birthday yesterday. I would take a close win as belated birthday present for him.

One last note. Jethro Pugh, number 75 for Dallas in the photo above. passed away this week at the age of 70. He won two Super Bowls playing for the Cowboys, but somehow never lived down getting blocked by Jerry Kramer for the go-ahead QB sneak in the "Ice Bowl". It's a shame, because he was type of defensive lineman who could have transitioned into today's NFL. A real forerunner of the type of player that would come to dominate in the NFL. RIP, Jethro Pugh.

I remember a Dallas game in GB from the 2010 season. Had some younger Cowboys fans behind us, everyone having a good time, they having never been to Lambeau. I heard them say to each other, "too bad they had to put artificial turf in Lambeau". I had to explain to them that it's really just a very well maintained grass field with some fibers woven in. They didn't believe me at first.

One of the best surfaces in the NFL, actually.

Agree that Jethro was one of the best in his day. RIP.

Here's a good interview of Dan Reeves about the "Ice Bowl": http://mmqb.si.com/2015/01/09/dan-re...bowl-memories/

It will be a very long night here in Italy for me: first the soccer game then the two football matches on TV. Luckily Tomorrow is Sunday, let's hope the kids don't wake me up before noon.

Jerry Kramer was a guest on The Jim Rome Show the other day. He told some great stories about the Packer teams he played on. Also he recounted the Ice Bowl and the final drive where Green Bay scored.

Always thought Ken Bowman got short-changed for his part in that famous play. It was a double-team block on Pugh, and Bowman's job was to stand him up (which he did) so Kramer could drive him out of the gap with a body block.

For whatever reason, Kramer got all the credit. Not to say he didn't do his job well, but Bowman was just as big a part of the play's success.

Read Jerry Kramer's books Instant Replay, and Distant Replay. Remember him saying that Dallas just wasn't prepared for the weather. Didn't have the right equipment ect. The Cowboys just wanted to get the heck out of there and go home.

Enjoy the game! I have a very good friend that called me and asked if I wanted to go. I have to work today, unfortunately. That and I've done the Lambeau in the cold thing several times.

That being said, it's a playoff game! I've never been to an NFL playoff.

Anyway, enjoy the game and stay warm!

ESPN just ran a great segment on the final drive of the Ice Bowl and the various individual participants, it's got me psyched up for todays games!!

Born and raised in Dallas. Caught the Packers with Rogers dinged up; squandered multiple opportunities to put points on the board. Nobody to blame but ourselves.

Great year!

That was a CATCH... That rule is the stupidest on record. The ground cannot cause a fumble, but can cause an incomplete pass? Utter hypocrisy. Dez had control all the way through and was reaching for the goal line (a football act)
Dallas got robbed

Great game, record attendance at Lambeau. Will post a couple of pics tomorrow. Sat with Dallas fans. I thought it was a catch too, but not according to the rule book apparently. That rule needs to be looked at.

The Dallas fans in attendance were very cordial. It was a great atmosphere all around.

Glad you were able to catch that game in Lambeau! Just watching the game now as I was at work

Here's the Rodgers to Rodgers 13 yard bullet for the go ahead 26-21 score from my vantage point. You can see all the players on the field, and game situation on the scoreboard at top. 9:11, 21-20 on scoreboard as the play takes place.

Was it a catch or not with Dez

I hate the 'boys" but it sure looked like a possible catch and fumble... He should have just put the ball away without the reach (as he contends) and they would have had ball at 1 yard line.

Personally I don't think he was reaching so it should be an incomplete pass.
