Deepsea D-Blue to be stopped

Picked one of these up on friday and dealer told me Rolex was going to slow production down and faze this model out just leaving the Deepsea. They had been told by the rep to stop taking anymore order's as couldn't be sure they would be met, so if you want you better be quick. Anyone not seen one in the flesh yet they look better than any of the photos on online, and the dial gives it a little something over the normal model.

I would take what most ADs tell you with a pinch of salt if the watch is selling world wide then I can see no reason that Rolex would stop making the dials.

This and the dreaded "impending price increase" are the two oldest tricks in the salesperson's book to close a sale. I'll believe it when I see it.

The story has been remarkably consistent about D-Blue from day one. While the "proof is in the pudding" as my grandmother used to say, I wouldn't be surprised if the rumors surrounding this watch are true.

And yes, the Fifth Avenue Rolex boutique is no longer taking orders for the D-Blue.

Adam

I am not too keen about ROLEX in fancy color. Remember the case of the Green Crystal Milguass? I remember there were lots and lots of speculation on this model. Currently it does not hold value as it use to.

Your AD does almost certainly has no inside knowledge of the overall product release plans of Rolex in Geneva. The company is notoriously secret, and does not release vital info like this so it can be blabbed to someone who just walks in off the street.

The Deep Blue may indeed prove to be a limited edition. But if I had a guess, I'd guess it sells better than the original, so I doubt it. If it was going to be a limited edition, Rolex would have decided that before it came out, and likely have created a numbering system to enhance/promote that very fact, which would add a much more valuable premium to the product than the token difference between the two watches' MSRP.

That's not something I would like to hear. I trust this is going to be stay as an urban myth given that this model is higly desirable and higly commanding model why on Earth would Rolex kill it's "golden egg"

I've speculated a short run on the DBlue from the begining.

Truth be told AD's really don't know much more than we do. Now sometimes they know SIGNIFICANTLY LESS. lol.

Even the ever so touchy subject of the price increase!!! Ha. When I bought my new YM on Friday - we were discussing and my friends there may know something 72 hrs before - but how much...nope. :0)

Most members here are more educated than most AD's when taking Rolex.

Hedging their bets, most likely; minimizing the chance that they'll disappoint their clients. From the get go, nothing about the D-Blue and its release makes sense -- at least going by Rolex's traditional playbook -- so it's wise to be cautious and not over promise.

Personally, I think that it'll be quietly retired before long, but then what the hell do I know?

Adam

I think they'll soon stop producing the Submariner.

If you put enough cash on the counter, I guarantee you that any AD in the country will find one eventually.

I tell what's hard to come by in my neck of the woods is the BLNR.

I doubt my AD would take an order at this time, because the last I heard, which was just a few weeks ago, he's only seen one so far, which he sold it to me and he has no idea when he'll see another.

That doesn't mean that they're being phased out.

Did they say when they expected to receive one? I ask because I've got a buddy out that way who's been looking for one with no luck. I'll tell him to head over and put his name down (presumably he'll be the first one one in line, then).

They said they get one about every 2 to 3 weeks. They just received the one for the one customer on the waiting list last week. Looks awesome in person.

Sounds like AD bs to me. I remember a few months ago I went to an AD I had never gone to before and I was looking at their SS models. I remember I had recently gotten rid of my subC and was looking at the subC again to see the price difference from when I bought mine in 2011 and they told me that the subC was going to stop its production by mid to late 2012.... I was in shock because how would an iconic and one of their best sellers not produce anymore?! They tell you that so you can freak out and purchase it without thinking further
