My first Rolex!

My grandfather passed away 11 years ago, and the day after he died my grandmother gave this watch for me to hold and examine. She said "grandpa wanted you to have this". That was 11 years ago, and on this past Saturday for my 29th birthday I finally received my watch. This watch was given to my grandfather in December of 1990, purchased in Calgary Alberta. It include the logo for cana construction. My uncle has worn the watch for the past 11 years because my grandfather wanted in worn, knowing the importance.

I'm just starting to understand what Rolex stands for, and I'm truly amazed.

Congratulations. Great story. I can relate as I also received my grandfather's watch (simple Tissot). I am 33 and he passed away 3 years before I was even born. I truly love this watch for the connection I feel with my grandfather who lived with integrity and with a great work ethic.
Congratulations again and may you wear it in excellent health.

Great story. You now have a lovely keeper which you can maybe one day pass down yourself. Keep it safe but wear it as it was meant to be worn.

Thanks a lot guys! The watch does have a logo "CANA" for cana construction. My grandfather received it when they finished building midtown plaza in Saskatoon Canada. Do you think having this logo devalues the watch? My uncle did get it services and crystal replaced 11 years ago.
I have twin 2 year olds, one of which is a boy. He will one day receive this watch. How long can it be expected that this watch will last? I do need to send it away to rolex Canada for service and appraisal, but I'm not ready to part with it yet, as I just got it a few days ago.

Do you guys sleep with it on? Any advice for a rolex newby like myself?

A watch this value is priceless. No matter what's on the dial or engraved on its back, the real value is not monetary but emotions...

Congrats and wear it with pride.

Nice watch, congratulations!

Regarding how long it'll last, well, I received a watch that was my grandfather's and he bought it new before 1962 and it's still working like new after more than 50 years.
