New Panerai
So I took the plunge and flipped my 214270 Explorer for a PAM 00024 Luminor Submersible. I found the Explorer wasn't getting as much wrist time as it deserved and I realized that I picked it up more because of its history and classic looks than it being something novel in my collection. I emailed DavidSW and set up the trade in about an hour's time. I will hopefully have it in hand by tomorrow and will post pictures once it arrives.
Now time for my questions. I was able to source myself a rubber accordion dive strap with buckle to replace the one that comes standard with the model. I have heard only negative things regarding its comfort. I am looking to additionally pick up the OEM Panerai strap that comes with the PAM 00510 model. I think it's called Luminor Vintage. Does anyone have a good resource other than scouring the classifieds here or do I need to walk into a Panerai boutique? I am open to any other recommendations or suggestions from Submersible owners. Pics are of course always welcome. |

What I was missing was something I could really bang around, wear at the gym, wear surfing, and not take a loss money wise. The PAM 00024 seemed to make the most sense. |

Great choice on the Pam24, congrats, imo the regular rubber strap is nice and adequate, and fits the watch profile nicely.

510 should come with black calf vintage strap. Congrats on the pick up!

Love the 24! A classic PAM Diver.
Great choice on the vintage OEM - really nice strap. You'll also need a kick-a** ammo, which will look great on that piece. Consider D9, (see Traveller's pix), Peter Gunny or Micah. |

Congrats! You will love the 024. It was my first Pam and I still have it. I think the OEM rubber looks amazing with the 024, perfect dimensions. I have dressed the watch with lots of different straps and its amazing that this watch being a sub dressed up with a OEM dark brown croc really makes it dressier and doesn't look out of place. Recently when I was I Miami I went to the Panerai boutique at Bal Harbor and they had a 024 in the display case with a assolutamente strap and it looked amazing! The employees there also said they loved the look.....so I bought an assolutamente strap and it really does look sharp. Have fun with this watch, it has the perfect amount of brushed and polished steel that makes you constantly glance at it.

It took a little time to get the strap and configuration I wanted on my Submersible, but here is the final product. I am absolutely in love with this reference on a leather strap. This is OEM vintage gold but I also picked up the OEM accordion dive strap should I take this guy into the ocean with me.

Congrats, I do like those hands.
Did you consider a nice oiled canvas? I hate rubber, so used that as a water friendly alternative. Also used an oiled Greg Stevens Crazy Horse. |

I was on a similar dilemma last year but kind of backwards. Switch my pam00024 for a DeepSea. But want to get another Panerai... trying to decide what model to choose.

Congrats! My first pam and one that I would love to one day add back. The oem rubber is great, if it's tang buckle.
