Rolex distribution

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how does rolex transport its product from swiss to various parts of the world? By container in a ship? Plane?

And does ad receives the product directly from swiss or does it have to go through boutique first?

In the US they all go directly to the New York RSC before they are sent to any AD's.

Don't know if they go by plane or ship from Switzerland.. They probably don't advertise that because a shipment would be worth several million..

I'm sure they go by plane. Too much capital tied up to have them sitting on a cargo ship for a month.

Interesting stuff...definitely learned something today.

So the RSC has to take on the burden of shipping all those watches to the hundreds of US AD's...along of course with their mission of servicing what I'm sure is an extraordinary number of watches...wow.

Thanks for the information, Larry.

If I had to guess, I'd say Fedex or UPS. You'd be surprised at the sheer amount of small, high value items those two carry daily. Given their size, I'd doubt that container shipping would be economically advantageous. My company sells products small enough that a million dollars worth can fit in a box the size of a microwave oven. Planes are the only way to go for those types of shipments.
