Crown Guard question...

Has anyone ever had just a crown guard replaced due to a ding or nick? Or does anyone know if it's possible even?

Any first hand experience and info is appreciated...

Also curious as to an approximate price....realizing that it would vary depending on the model.

thanks!

Yes I had a CG replaced on a base several years ago. Can't recall the cost though.

Price varies depending on the model mate but anything from around $250 as a guide

It also depends on your local CSC... you may need to send the whole watch in to OP in which case there can usually be additional costs... but the biggest thing will be time..as once OP receive it they will then send you a quote for anything they believe you need as well as the CG replacement... You should call OP CSC direct to get your options on sending as sometimes it may be better to send through a reputable authorised dealers (don't have to be Boutique or sell PAMs in that particular store as long as they have other stores that do) even if it aint where you bought it...they will charge you handling etc but at least you get full coverage with shipping..

In all depending on where you are it can take up to 3 months or so...

I believe in US you can have some authorised OP boutiques and dealers who can undertake a limited amount of repair work and therefore can get parts sent to them which saves you a lot of time... that's not the case in the UK

Or depending on the damage it may well be possible to affect a repair or limit the visual impact... again either a reputable watchsmiths (with in house watchsmith) or perhaps even yourself through some ' How To' guides/threads here and on Risti etc

Was it damaged? In other words why not a warranty issue

Thanks Pete,

It stinks b/c the watch was just at Panerai for a full service and they did nothing with the CG, which i hoped they would. The nick is very, very small, but i'm pretty sure since i've pointed it out in my For Sale thread, folks are seeing it as a deterrent to purchasing the watch.
