need some advice before purchasing a used Tudor Jumbo

I'm looking to buy a used Tudor Jumbo Oyster Date from the 80's ....... It's a stainless model with a gold fluted bezel and the crown is gold in color as well ...., what does it mean when he says the crown is not signed? Does it mean the watch is not worth buying? Or could I simply replace the crown and stem?
I hope it doesn't sound like a stupid question but I don't want to get myself into a situation where I'm stuck with the watch and I'm not happy with it, it looks great other than that, and priced right for a beater in my terms for a beater. I'm never hard on any of my watches but it does concern me when I see you all other Tudors with a signed Rolex crown and this one doesn't in the seller has even disclosed that he doesn't know if it's a replacement, every other one that I've looked at seems to at least have the Rolex signed crown and I've even seen some that look like it's Tudor shield crown but they might just be an optical illusion… :-)
Thanks for all your guys's help
Rich

PS. This was originally posted in the for sale section, maybe it was moved and if I'm posting this in the wrong section mods please delete, but I do need the forums advice.

1980s Tudor should have a Rolex marked crown and caseback. More recent ones have tne Tudor shield on the crown. Do you have a photo ir link?

Blurry photos and in his description he did say he thought it might be a replacement.... The case back and face look ok but I know the crown is wrong. Should that be a deal breaker? I messaged him for better photos and other info and he has been selling since 2007, albeit not a lot ..... But a Rolex or two so he's not a dummy to someone asking questions. He just didn't answer mine as fast as I'd like, maybe he figures he has plenty of time. I like it mostly because it's the larger of the older Tudor sizes. I wish someone on here had one for sale.

Hard to tell from the pics on my iPad, but looks ok in general. If you like it. I wouldn't care too much about the crown, as the watch isn't a collectors item.

Thanks Mr. Adam! I wasn't planning anything other than a nice knock around in watch. I can always put the correct crown on at some point .... Right?

Wouldn't touch it from a seller at 90%.

Mismatched - stainless band on a two tone watch. I would pass.

Oddly enough I almost bought a gray dial all stainless Tudor oysterdate this week, though it has a Rolex folded link band.

I like the 38mm Tudor jumbos as well..!

Good luck

Al

Thanks Dan, after the knowledge that I have gained from the last two years of being apart of the Forum, the seller of this watch removed the listing. He knew and I knew something was amiss. Thanks to everyone who chimed in, the watch I'm looking for doesn't have to be super anything just .... something that is what it is, AND THIS ONE WAS CLEARLY NOT CLOSE!

What was so wrong that he removed the listing?

Then what does "clearly not close" mean? Am I missing something?

need some advice before purchasing a used Tudor Jumbo

I don't really know what I meant by that I think that I just found one that wasn't what it was, I asked him questions about the difference in the band and the bezel it has and it was a different band than original and I think because the crown has been changed that probably once the back was opened up it wouldn't be everything that it was supposed to be .... that's my own opinion. Because I asked him for model numbers and serial numbers and better pictures and he continued to blow me off with stupid answers. So I think he knew we was found out maybe somebody reported the listing is being fraudulent I don't know.
